I had breakfast here one morning, and despite the place being full almost to capacity due to a popular funeral about to happen, the proprietor managed to keep the orders and food moving nicely. He explained at one point to some of the funeral crowd that he was sorry about the delays, but the kitchen is designed to cook for one table at once. Luckily, I had no time constraints and was happy to sit reading until my breakfast arrived. The coffee appeared first, followed by toast and butter, then the actual breakfast proper. The proprietor apologised and said the black pudding was on its way. I was well into the breakfast when it did arrive, and it tasted a bit weird, so I left it alone. The quality of the sausages, bacon, eggs (scrambled for me), hash brown, smattering of tomatoes, and a huddle of beans was just what I required and I have no complaints other than that already mentioned - the weird black pudding, which I don't like much anyway. Strangely conspicuous by their absence was a portion of mushrooms. Given that I'd purchased a large breakfast, I sort of expected them to be hiding under the bacon (as usual) - but no! No fungus for me. I checked the menu again, and I guess the Wicstun Tea Room just doesn't like edible toadstools, as they didn't get a mention anywhere. Still, you sort of miss them when they're not there. Overall, there was nothing to fault. There was nothing to be excited about either though. It was decent fair at a decent price, served as soon as it's cooked. I spent close to an hour in there, which shows how low down the bill I was, and how much reading I got through. But like I said, it was decent enough food and when you're hungry, you'll enjoy it, even if there's a bit of a wait. So there you go. Don't expect miracles, you'll not be let down. Need to fill up after a long cycle ride or hike, you've found your nosebag.

What a fab little tea room. We called in after going to the new vets, and we weren't disappointed. We both had a lovely breakfast. The menu didn't have much choice on, but I'm sure there is something for everyone. The place is clean n tidy, the girl n the owner were very friendly, which I like it that way.. Had lots of banter with them. We will be popping back guys- x-

Best cafe I've been to in market weighton. Friendly and welcoming owner, food superb and plenty of it. Very reasonably priced compared to others around.

The young man who runs the café is extremely friendly and helpful, and the waitress is the same, both of them make you feel very welcome. The place is spotlessly clean, as is the restroom. There is a wide selection of food on offer, from sandwiches to homemade dinners - I had beef stew, with mash and peas, it was delicious. Also they serve all day breakfasts. It's an inexpensive place, very good value for money and I would definitely recommend it. It also has...
