The World Upside Down — Restaurant in England

As it was Dad & son Tuesday beer night, we thought we'd try this Raunds free house, The World Upside Down again.

It has changed a lot since we came in last a couple of years or more ago, probably before the pandemic. Looks like it's been 'modernised' from what we can remember. Mixed feelings about this.

Loud music and games machines, big screen TV for the sport and vaping allowed inside the pub. On the other hand the guys behind the bar seem to know their beer. New Northampton brewed Brooklyn beers plus Phipps on and a few standards. They also stock cans of Guinness 0.0 for drivers, which is a plus for me, though not much else in the low alcohol line.

There's a kitchen but no evidence of food or menus on this visit. On balance 3-stars this visit. Bit noisy for a quiet Tuesday...

I wish I could of given a 5 star as I normally would have and if it was the WINGS it would of got a 5 star,

But for our first and now my last steak 🥩 night I’m gonna have to give it a 2.

We had a table booked and the service ie drink order and the food was served pretty quickly there was 4 of us there and two ordered medium rare and 2 ordered medium. Both 20oz steaks that were supposed to come out medium rear actually came out rare to the point half of the 20oz was blue n rare the 2 medium ones come out medium rare.

Think in future I’ll stick to the wings as after spending £17.50 for a steak that I didn’t even eat and after leaving I had to visit another takeaway for food.

Arrived at about 3pm as this was the only pub in Raunds to show the six nations on Sunday. Got there too late for food as they sell out and are very busy. Booking is recommended if your after a Sunday lunch! Nicley renovated inside and friendly landlord. After sitting down to watch the match with our drinks (with the family) a chef appeared with a bowl of complimentary roast potatoes for us. Nice touch. I'm not saying you should expect roast potatoes on arrival but as they had some going spare and we had asked about food they didn't have It was nice they thought to give us a little something. If the potatoes are anything to go by - I'll be back for a full meal, booking...
