What was once a great pub is in it's death knell. The owners from York don't care. It is one of their best earners by all accounts. Of course it is because they have spent nothing on it for years and still charge over £3 per pint..It has been my regular haunt for 38 Years but not any more. I understand they do most business in the afternoon and early evening. It seems like the later evening crowd like myself are no longer welcome as the landlord would rather shut the pub than serve his evening regulars. Read moreExpensive, and short measures! Our pints were well below the line (by centimetres) but when I raised it with the bar lady she said it was "automated" so she couldn't top it up. Ridiculous really. Especially at £4 for a pint of Magnet. No other ales on. Also thought they did food. Which they didnt. Only plus was it was dog friendly and spacious in the (suspiciously) empty lounge area. Also had a random bloke talking at me the whole tine while I was trying to watch the rugby...
