Thought I would drive to the new Wendy's and use the drive-through facility to order and collect individual meals for the family. We had been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Peterborough Wendy's, which had been hyped-up by the local press over many months, with the opening date delayed repeatedly.
Well, what a disappointment the experience turned out to be. The order was missing two Dave's Single burgers. Four burgers and fries had been converted to combo meals, each of which includes a serving of fries. This meal conversion was specifically declined by me via the intercom, when offered at order placement. Two medium fries had not been removed from the order, so were also provided - and charged for - providing a total of 6 portions of medium fries (two portions more than ordered).
The healthy milk option, for a child's meal, was not available. Rather cheekily, I was only made aware of this at the collection hatch (not when I verbally placed the order) and this was casually mentioned as I was provided with two trays of cups (containing what I believed were Frosty milkshakes and the unavailable milk). Instead three medium diet Coke drinks had been substituted for the missing milk! My consumer rights were clearly not respected here, but with a long line of cars with orders to collect behind me, it did not feel possible for me to dispute the order. This stealthy and underhand practice of switching ordered items for others, collecting payment (at the next window along the drive through way) without disclosing and therefore recommending substitution to the consumer, for him or her to decline, should not occur and is very much a breach of consumer legislation.
The final insult to injury was handing me two trays with open Frosty milkshakes in, with a spoon projecting out from the top of each. Either the expectation was: that I would drive home with four open milkshakes, or, more likely -- little thought had been expended on customer service (and or, recent staff training was but a distant, vague memory)! I therefore requested tops, which caused some bewilderment at the serving hatch. These were provided to me and I had to park, remove four milkshake laden spoons and fit the lids before being confident of a spillage-free drive home. With a new branch of the D.I.Y. chain Toolstation immediately opposite the car, now parked for fitting lids, the irony of a semi-D.I.Y. fast-food experience was not lost on me.
Once home, the missing burgers and extra fries were duly discovered. Two family members went without a Wendy's meal.
In place, an order was placed with Five Guys. Whilst waiting for that I tasted some of the fries (one of the non-ordered extra portions). My impression was of dry, overcooked fries (quite brown in colour) and excessively salted.
This was a poor, disconcerting experience. I would advise other would-be diners to be careful in placing orders at this outlet and to ensure that what is received matches exactly with that which...
Read moreWendy's on Maskew Avenue in Peterborough offers a delightful dining experience that's perfect for families and individuals alike. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting this location with some friends, and it was an experience worth sharing.
First and foremost, the ambiance is welcoming and modern, with plenty of natural light streaming through the large windows, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable meal.
Now, let's talk about the food. Wendy's is famous for their square burgers, and for good reason. The square patties are a unique twist on the classic burger shape, ensuring that every bite is packed with juicy, flavorful beef. The burgers are cooked to perfection, with a satisfying char on the outside and a tender, succulent interior.
One of the standout features of Wendy's burgers is their mustard sauce. This tangy, slightly spicy condiment adds a wonderful depth of flavor to the burgers. It's not just your ordinary mustard; it has a unique blend that complements the beef perfectly, making each bite more enjoyable than the last.
Aside from the burgers, we also enjoyed a variety of other menu items. The chicken nuggets were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a selection of dipping sauces that enhanced their flavor. The fries were golden and perfectly seasoned, making them an ideal accompaniment to our meal.
For dessert, we indulged in Wendy's famous Frosty. This creamy treat is a perfect way to end a meal, with its rich texture and delightful taste.
Overall, our visit to Wendy's on Maskew Avenue was a great experience. The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone in the Peterborough area. Whether you're craving their iconic square burger or just looking for a tasty meal, Wendy's delivers...
Read moreTitle: Disappointing Experience at Wendy's: Inaccurate Labeling and Unappetizing Curry Burger
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Review: My recent visit to Wendy's left much to be desired. Although the chili and fries were enjoyable, (although initially he wasn’t provided with a fork to eat the chilli) the overall experience was marred by inaccurate labelling and an unappetising vegetarian option. I ordered a Baconator meal, a pot of chili for my husband, and the vegetarian curry burger for myself.
Upon opening the bag, it became evident that both burgers were not identifiable, as they were wrapped in a generic hamburger wrapper. This lack of labeling created confusion and made it difficult to distinguish between the two burgers. When we returned to Wendy's to express our concern, the staff insisted that the burgers were correct based on their inspection.
While I acknowledge that mistakes can happen, it is essential for a fast food restaurant like Wendy's to ensure accurate labeling and separate packaging for different burger options. This would prevent customer dissatisfaction and confusion.
Regrettably, the vegetarian curry burger turned out to be the worst thing I've ever had from a fast food outlet. It lacked any discernible curry flavor and had a texture resembling chewy leather. Additionally, the lettuce served with the burger was yellow and wilted, further adding to the disappointment. Even the Dr Pepper drink I ordered seemed to lack its usual flavor, leaving me unsatisfied.
Overall, my experience at Wendy's fell short of expectations. Accurate labeling and separate packaging for different burger options are crucial to avoid confusion and ensure customer satisfaction. I hope that Wendy's takes these concerns into consideration and improves its quality control and customer experience...
