Yorkshire Grey — Restaurant in England

I’ve been going to this pub for quite some time now and like the atmosphere as it’s quite quiet. We visited the pub on Sunday and I was told by the server, a young lady that as there was a large group in, so food would take about 40 minutes. This wasn’t a problem so we sat in the garden and waited for the food. When it arrived, the chips were almost raw and I asked the young woman and young chap if we could have the chips cooked please. I wasn’t too bothered but the young female decided to take our plates away with the chips, leaving my wife and I eating our burger off a napkin, which was rude. Anyway, as I was waiting, I went up to the counter to get some cutlery as we had none and on doing, I mentioned that our burgers didn’t come with cheese and she said are you sure, twice! As if I was trying to get a couple of extra slices on the house. She then told me the chips were oven baked and not fried, I replied that I’m not bothered either way but I like the chips to be cooked. She repeated the fact that they were oven baked two more times and again I said I don’t care I just want chips that are cooked. She replied, you believe what you want to believe and childishly walked away.

Now I know it was busy and not enough staff but that’s got nothing to do with me. Furthermore, I was actually speaking in a cheery tone so there was no need for the rudeness my family and received.

We visited this establishment this afternoon as a party of 4 without a reservation. The place was empty on arrival apart from 2 people at a large table so there was ample seating to accommodate us. Despite this we were given a tiny table in the extension next to put style windows. You would of expected the heating to have been on being the 2nd half of November but no the radiator next to us was freezing. After the waitress ( redhead) took our order halfway through she rolled her eyes at a member of our party as if she was inconvenienced that we wanted food. After the food arrived we hardly managed to fit it all on the tiny table & they were hanging off the edge. We had no room for drinks because it was so cramped. Also the chips were not cooked whatsoever & some of the order was wrong although after calling out the chips were replaced with some that were cooked. After finishing the meal we decided against having desert because one of our party was obviously shivering so we went to pay the bill £102.03p one of our party complained to the rude waitress about the being given a tiny table when there was parties of 3-4 given tables triple the size of ours & there was still some tables that were still empty & much larger. The rude waitress put on a bizarre voice in response & bluntly said you should of asked to move! I felt disgusted & as if I was being discriminated against. Very mixed visit here. While it was not bad for the prices and the food arrived quickly enough, the little things they could improve on would really help.

My mum went to use the disabled loo and couldn't lock the door - when enquired about it was told to pull really hard the door and then it would lock - not everybody can do that nevermind on a disabled loo door!

Some menu items not available though there is a good menu selection overall. Battered fish was super tasteless but the chips were really lovely as was the pudding for both of us though when I asked if I could get an extra scoop of ice cream was met with a 'what?' and very confused look by a waitress who had coughed the whole way through our visit poor girl, not the most pleasant for her or us I'm sure

They did take the coffee off the bill which was too strong for me as had asked for extra weak (issue with the machine I think)

I read further below that it's under new management so perhaps worth another visit in a few months to see how it's going as definitely some plus points and I am sure they will want to do their best. Also handy place for lunch as quite near the shopping areas 2 min drive down...
