The Shack — Restaurant in England

The food was so good and I would happily eat it again.

However the venue had its flaws.

When we arrived the place was empty so we asked to move as our table was awful. The table we were on was along the wall so the people sat on the padded bench were so high and leaning right over the table whilst the chairs were quite low. We asked to move and was told we couldn’t. However 5 minutes later another family who were sat along the wall got moved to where we had asked to sit. The girl apologised when we mentioned it but it just seems so stupid to deny us and offer it to them when we each had 3 people in our party.

The 2 young girls serving us were really poor and their service skills were awful. They appeared unsure about everything and we were asked everything multiple times. Drinks were spilled when transporting them. We were asked 3 different times if we wanted sauces when we had already asked for sauces.

There was an Asian guy who served us and he was really good. Knew his stuff and was friendly.

Maybe the 2 girls are new but they were so spaced out and unsure it made us feel awkward.

We will come back as the food was so good but hopefully we have much better...

Food is amazing, one of the best burgers I’ve had. But the service is really poor and there are loads of staff but they do not read the room. I think the staff are great and just need better direction from their manager and this is where I think the problem stems from. He is way too loud and overbearing, I could hear him over my partner. Enthusiastic, yes, but too much. Took ages for our first drinks order, sat with empty glasses when we would have ordered another drink, not invited to see the desert menu, waited for ages for our plates to be cleared and so my partner (amongst many others) went up to get the bill. Manager leaning on the bar on his phone, and of course the waitresses then do the same. The comment about the tables being too low is true, though it’s more the built in seat that’s too high. No one seemed to know what was going on, who was booked in, when and on what table. Doesn’t seem to be that roles and responsibilities have been defined and so it’s a bit chaotic, and lack of direction. Needs a more senior and experienced manager and the staff would be great. We would definitely order a take away from here but would pass on eating in again...

Very disappointing first impression! It was my birthday meal with few of my friends as I was suggested coming here as the burgers are incredible,

On arrival the gentleman said did I call you today? I said no, why is that, He said oh nothing let’s get you seated and explain the situation.

We was informed that a burger restaurant has no burger Buns!! Or chicken wings! They can do the burger with out buns and they have chicken tenders- we was very disappointed but being a Saturday night and was booked 3/4 weeks ago it would of been a struggle to get seated else where and couldn’t be bothered with the hassle!

We sat down and they took our order and it was very quiet in there as you can imagine no buns I’m sure a lot of people walked out, the drinks took a fair while to arrive,

On receiving our food we only received 1 dirty fries out of 5! And they realised after 10 minutes came to apologise and cooked up another 5 which took another 20 minutes to receive the dirty fries!

All in all it was a disaster and mistakes after mistakes were happening,

We were all dissatisfied and upset with the result to also not receive anything taken...
