Not a good experience...Wednesday night : no burgers,no sausages,no steak pie...so one of the party ended up eating a toastie. The meals all came out separately, the veggies with the pie were cold,it was returned and microwaved to within an inch of its life....too hot to eat. The salad had obviously been in a fridge all day,the rocket had wilted, the cucumber had frozen the tomatoes were starting to rot,the chicken great was good. The chicken burger was really dry. The chicken tikka was good but look unappetizing. We did give the feedback but the manager just apologised briefly and walked away. Nice olde worlde decor but wouldn't go back,I suppose we should have realised when it was the only place in town that could accommodate a party of 7 with 3 weeks notice.

Wanted a typical English Fish and Chip meal and we not disappointed. Very large cod and mushy peas or garden peas to accompany as well did not disappoint either. Well served and staff very friendly. Will definitely recommend this place and will go there again.

Breakfast is good and not expensive £9 for two full English with coffee. 2 eggs ,2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, tomatoes beans and toast, not forgetting a huge mushroom, all very tasty. Great value and excellent service. Busy Saturday morning.

It's with a heavy heart I write this as wanted to be using this pub for regular lunches as just moved to the area but after Saturday have decided to stay away for a while until the chef or manager decide something needs to improve . Had a special occasion meal for 7 a couple of weeks back but 5 out of the 7 meals were either cold, forgotten, unedible or not what we ordered. It spoilt the whole event. This Saturday we gave it another chance but a couple sitting next to us said steak was not chewable(one of the faults we encountered before), then my turkey pie was sent out cold with cold watery gravy yet again, manky chips(burnt and scrag ends), some sorry looking veg & no sprouts. Oops same issue as before again and on previous reviews too I see!!!!.Then the next couple on next table got a cold pie which was 're nuked(chicken and Turkey should be heated properly surely) NO ONE IS LEARNING FROM MISTAKES MADE so after having a dicky tummy that night this has provoked me to write this as enough is enough.make one mistake fine but 3 out of 3 tables next to each other sending food back and playing about with Turkey and chicken is not on. On a positive note to end the staff are lovely in there and it's a great looking pub which could do very well if they sort...

What a fantastic old pub, with the charm and character still surviving with low ceilings and fire place, I hate it when owners tear the guts out of the pubs to make them "fashionable" good on you! You have kept the happy medium, contemporary/old fusion.

We wanted a meal on our way home from a couple of days away. We parked in the car park outside and realised you could only stop for a hour. We were just about to drive off and I said to my husband look fish n chips £8.99. We went in and he asked the bar maid about the parking, she said come around to our car park, you'll have no worries there. All through our meal we felt welcomed by both of the staff!!

We all decided to order the big fish"n"chips, we didn't realise how big the meal was : fish, chips, scampi, bread and butter, pickled onions, peas, tartar and curry sauce, it's a whopper of a meal.....all for £9.99. The meals were a extremely good portion of all the items and the quality was exceptional!

I'd like to compliment once again the two members of staff.

This pub deserves to do well with great food and service!

It's a old pub with the old fashioned welcome, thank you we hope to call in and see you...
