Forest Tandoori Loughton — Restaurant in Epping Forest

Me, solo diner at 5:20 on the first cold Monday in December. Really fancied something hot and spicy. Walking past the restaurant I could smell what I had been thinking about for the past hour!

As I was so early, I was their only customer for my entire dinner.

Chicken Jalfrezi is my "go-to" so that's what I ordered...having lived in India, its a good benchmark!

I was welcomed with open arms into a huge but empty restaurant. Food came relatively quickly and was tasty, fresh and served with care and attention. Little bursting spikes of cardamom in my main which was slightly different.

Mushroom rice, delicious, onion bhaji the only disappointment on the table. Didn't seem overly fresh and lacking flavour.

A word of warning! Go with a huge appetite! Portion sizes are gargantuan! I'd eaten a full meal and there was enough chicken, sauce, rice and bhaji left to feed another person! Plus the chicken pieces were massive! I was slightly embarrassed that I'd left so much so I did mention to the lovely staff about their portion sizes.

Genuinely really tasty Indian food. First time visit here and it's clear that the decor has been modernised with a flower wall and a contemporary ceiling design. Really friendly staff and food arrived piping hot but more importantly all the dishes were really really good. From the saag dish to the meat and prawn curries, all were nicely prepared and tasted wonderful. Clearly this restaurants is following all the necessary covid guidelines, so it's a shame places like this will have to shut their dining service and only provide takeaway during lockdown as this restaurant will be doing. Definitely a restaurant...

Came here for dinner with a small group, and we were quite disappointed with the experience. The food was just okay, and for the most part, the staff was not helpful.

Most of what we ordered was a bit underwhelming in taste, with the vegetable samosa and garlic naan very disappointing.

I asked the waiter taking our order if the vegetable shashlik had dairy and he said no. To double-check, I asked if there wasn't yogurt in the marinade because of a dairy allergy. He said, "it's okay, it's just a little." This is unacceptable considering customers may not always know how a dish is...
