I felt it my absolute duty to let you know why you should visit the India Grill restaurant in Loughton. I visited the India Grill a few weeks ago, as it was a Sunday and very late, but we wanted to get something to eat, but all the restaurants were closed along Loughton High Road.

We came upon the India Grill, which I understand was the first ever Indian Restaurant in Loughton, and we were pleasantly surprised. We explained that we were happy to find somewhere open at that time of night on a Sunday and found the owner very welcoming. We chose one meal but couldn’t decide on the other, so the owner suggested the Punjabi Butter Chicken, which we agreed to. We also ordered some nan bread and samosas. When the food arrived everything was perfect, the Punjabi Butter Chicken was the best dish I have ever eaten at an Indian restaurant and thanked the owner for recommending this to us - it was so flavoursome and moreish. We had a very enjoyable evening.

On Saturday, 19th August, we returned, especially for the Punjabi Butter Chicken! We were a group of 3 this time, and as well as the chicken we chose prawns and another lamb recommendation. We also had the Peshwari Naan bread, which was filled with desiccated coconut and was delicious; it was the first time I had tasted this. The staff, who I believe are family members, took the time to explain what we would be getting, made sure we were happy with our choices and again the food, service and atmosphere were perfect. The owners remembered us from our previous visit and even offered us complimentary drinks.

This is the perfect place for good food that is freshly prepared to order and reasonably priced. We do not live in Loughton, but would definitely travel back there again as the food is just amazing. I highly recommend...

I had lovely vegetarian balti, and great service from "T" the waiter. He was very polite and attentive and made time not only to advise me on the various dishes, but also to enter into general conversation of my choosing.

This restaurant's main strength is their service, I felt it was second to none. I will certainly return to try more of their offerings.

That said I was not there during one of their busy periods, and I shared the restaurant with an elderly gentleman, who has been eating there usually 6 days a week for many years.

This is the best testament to their friendliness, their food and their service. During his time there I noticed another member of staff was talking to and spending considerable time ensuring he to was enjoying his meal and clearly he liked it very much.

This restaurant is very good value, my whole meal was around £15 I believe including the tip, which included rice, my balti, and popadum with condiments and of course the service.

I'm on a diet at the moment, where I have to record the food I eat. So I asked "T" to take a photograph of me with my food and he obliged.

The last time I ate such a good curry was at my wedding, around 20 years ago. T's photo nearly made me look as good as I looked back then.

All in all....

This place is the Best Curry House in Loughton & possibly the World! I have been eating curry for years and consider myself now well qualified to judge good from not so good, and let me tell you this place is Great. Ive lost count of the amount of curry I have eaten and still the 1st time I ever ate here it felt my 1st curry all over again. I literally felt like I was discovering curry all over again, and for the actual 1st. It was a warm welcome and as soon as we were seated I could see it really was a proper family run restaurant, lots of places claim to be and are so obviously Not! It was like being invited into a family home to experience a proper home cooked curry made with real home ground spices and proper fresh herbs. You can defiantly tell the deference from places that use a powered base sauce and just chuck in whatever spices at the end to replicate the particular curry you chose from the menu. You will get none of that here. You will get just absolutely delicious authentic home cooked Indian food. I`m going again tonight I love the place so much & I cant wait. Thank You India...

Last Saturday, I had an unforgettable dining experience at The India grill, serving the best Indian cuisine I've enjoyed in years! The starters were phenomenal: the king prawn puree was bursting with fresh, succulent prawns, the fried aubergines were crispy and flavorful, and the lamb samosa, made from scratch, was perfectly spiced and flaky. For mains, the palak paneer was rich and vibrant, while their unique take on it with gooey, mozzarella-like cheese was a delightful surprise. The Maharaja lamb dish was an absolute standout, tender and packed with complex flavors. The owner, an incredibly friendly and warm gentleman, elevated the experience with his genuine hospitality, making every guest feel like family. The attentive service and cozy ambiance perfectly complemented the exceptional food. For outstanding Indian cuisine and a heartfelt dining experience, India grill is a must-visit!

Such a wonderful first visit to The India Grill this evening. Staying in Loughton for a few days I was dining alone but have seen the place packed at the weekend - so it must be good! You'd hope so - the family have run the business from these premises since 1970 and it's currently listed as the No2 best Indian Restaurant in the whole of Essex. I ventured inside on a snowy, cold and miserable December Monday and I'm so pleased I did. The Owner, Mo and his family gave me a lovely warm-welcome. My order; Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Keema Rice, Onion Bhaji. All came, promptly, piping hot, fresh and with beautiful levels of flavour and spicing. Perfect portion size (a decent sized meal)...not too much, not too little. Excellent value. Will be back again, next time with my wife!

Its been long time we are living in this area and generally we use to pass this hidden gem saying that it may not be the good option for us and we use to travel to central london to enjoy the meal .But today we took a risk and enter into the resturant and we were surprised to know that our assumption was absolutely wrong and we were happy to be wrong here . We love each and every dish that we ordered . We love set meal menue(meat or prawan) where we ordered chicken wings as starter , lamb karahi and pulau rice as main course and final touch was by tea. Apart from set meal we ordered one king prawan( north indian) curry which was also so tasty. Thank you so much for the hospitality and food .. Strongly recommend ...
