I stopped by Molens Brasserie in Loughton for lunch recently, and it was a fantastic experience. Located on the High Road, this charming spot has been a local favorite since 1985, and it’s clear why. The vibe is warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish, blending cozy and upscale perfectly – great for a relaxed midday meal.
The menu is packed with options, from hearty sandwiches to fresh salads and comforting classics. I went for the Chicken Escalope sandwich, and it was on point – tender, perfectly cooked chicken in a soft granary roll with crisp lettuce, cucumber, and a zesty lemon mayo that made every bite pop. My buddy chose the lasagna, served piping hot with golden fries and a fresh side salad – classic comfort food done right. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with generous portions and bold flavors.
The staff were a real highlight – super friendly, attentive, and full of warmth. Joseph, in particular, stood out, greeting us with a genuine smile and keeping everything running smoothly, even as the place hummed with lunchtime diners. Our drinks arrived quickly, perfectly complementing the meal, and the service was flawless throughout.

Read moreThe restaurant/cafe is like a revolving door of people in and people out. They must be doing very well. It's a family run business and the service, atmosphere and food is very good. The only problem that I had was paying for the bill, however, having a visible physical disability, they took their time on someone coming over for payment and had said that my dog was across the road being groomed. I only ordered cheese on toast, as try to go simple with many food allergies when out with a bottle of diet coke. Everything was spotless in there with the staff knowing their job, friendly and from what I saw from other tables, their food and presentation was immaculate. Cheese on toast came out within ten minutes! I left my phone on the table whilst going to the loo and wish that I didn't, as would have posted a photo! The only negative was that they didn't have any worcestershire sauce to put on my food and not really a negative. I used to use this place in the early 90's when it was one shop and successful then being more of a cafe on your way to work ordering a roll for breakfast etc. The family have carried it on so well, up to date and more like a high end cafe of two shop outlets made into one. It's a...
Read moreI honestly hate to leave this review after myself and my partner have been going here for the past 6 years. This was the second time we had takeaway. The first was absolutely perfect but this time everything that could have gone wrong did.
Firstly the milkshakes had spilt everywhere. (No cup holders included) so no wonder they split.
Then our "Mexican sandwich" was tuna mayonnaise & sweetcorn. Although it states Mexican tuna comes with cheese & jalapenos.
The "hot" salt beef sandwich was fridge cold. Definitely not heated up. And it wasn't that it had gone cold on the delivery as our other hot sandwich was still hot.
The "manager" was so rude to my partner on the phone. Kept not letting him explain the situation and saying it wasn't there problem. He didn't listen and anytime we tried to explain our issues he just said "what am I suppose to do about that?"
Have some bloody customer service!!
Bearinging in mind our order with our friends was £62 they obviously don't care anymore. This will be the last time we use what use to be our favourite...
