Tesco Cafe — Restaurant in Exeter

TOTALLY WRONG, On Saturday the 14th 2022 I went to the cafe with my wife and had the Brunch and this consisted of Free Range poached egg, halloumi cheese, roasted tomato, smashed avocado, beans, Hash Brown Flat mushroom and sourdough toast. What I actually got was Fried egg very undercooked, cheese ok, raw tomato that was warm at best on the edges and cold in the middle, not smashed avocado but half a whole half with a brown old edge on it, I got all the rest except the flat mushroom was just cooked on the outside and the rest was raw and felt like it had been just picked. I ate the Brunch but left most of the mushroom and the slime of the egg. I poured this out the the lady at the counter who never made any effort to change things or didn’t even come to the table she just said “oh ok I will let the kitchen know”. I do t usually complain and didn’t just leave a review as some people do I actually approached them but nothing was done and no care was taken at all. The staff here could be friendlier and accommodating given they are always out of items.

Every time I visit, I seem to run into issues with items being unavailable. I’ll ask for something, it’s not available, try something else, also not available, and eventually end up settling for something I didn’t really want in the first place.

On my last visit, I asked to swap a fried egg for a poached one, but was told the poacher was broken. I then asked if I could have scrambled instead, and she just said no 😂 exactly the same thing happened to the girl in front of my in the queue as well with nothing being available and she ended up with a drink she didn't want.

Awful. Don't waste your time or money. The food is NOT fresh, even the omelettes. Poached eggs are ordered in - frozen. This strikes me as crazy, considering they are a supermarket - with access to hundreds of eggs, but the kitchen staff aren’t even allowed to cook one!

The breakfast arrived after a 40 minute wait, they’d ran out of eggs, and what did arrive, arrived cold.

The staff don't even observe the most basic of food hygiene rules, no hats. They don't really seem to know what they're doing which is not their fault, it’s just lack of training and poor supervision.

If in the area and looking to eat, there is a costa just around the corner, or much better - a short drive to Fresha Cafe, 23 Bittern Rd, Exeter EX2 7LW. they're food is soooo much better and very...
