25th May 2025 Another excellent visit, the staff are so friendly and helpful, we sat in the garden by the river it was bliss, the hunters chicken schnitel was lovley
8th January 2025 we saw the light lunch offer on facebook so thought we would pop in and give it a go the food was good portions as advertised, the main meal is small but starters and desserts make up for it, the service was excellent as always. Russ and his team did a really good job.
19th September 2024 we saw a new menu advertised, so popped in the sad thing is chicken in a basket has gone, so we had katsu curry instead which was really good, staff were as good as always however Russ looked a little stressed think new menu teething problems were getting to him.
June 2024 garden packed and pub full service a little slow but worth the wait, this is one of our favourite pubs
March 2024, free beer when it rains, wow my husband loved his IPA the service was impeccable as always and the food was good.
2024 Jan great lunch at the fish, we really enjoyed the beef and ale pie with mash and veg, Gareth was welcoming and the service was good.
2022 Been using the fish for years just keeps getting better, love sitting in the garden in the summer, cold drink, hot food great environment.
original review First day back in the pub, we have dined in the garden over the last 2 weeks and that was nice, but cold, today we booked for lunch and thank you Boris we were allowed to sit inside doors and windows open to let fresh air in but still warmer and drier than outside, staff all wearing masks but you could see in there eyes they were happy to be back to some sort of normality. food and drinks were all excellent but they always are here, Thank you for making our...
Read moreDecided to have a family meal yesterday afternoon at the Fisherman's Rest Titchfield and see what the new owners are offering as the old owners had fantastic food and prices previous. But we were very, very disappointed, the prices have gone up to becoming over expensive, the food is a disgrace, I had a Jacket Potato with bacon and cheese, the potato was extremely small, two tiny over cooked bits of streaky bacon with a pinch (and I do mean a small pinch) of cheese which could barely be tasted with a couple of lettuce leafs and it was very expensive for a jacket potato, my partner had the mixed grill, normally you think mixed grill that's huge, no not here it was extremely small and sparse on the plate, my daughter had an egg and cress sandwich, one very small sliced egg not filling the bread so she ate more bread than filling, my other daughter had Lasagna with chips, the smallest portion ever and six chips, yes six we counted them, my mum in law had the Sea Bass, which was two tiny bits of fish on a pile of lettuce leaves and cost a fortune. Nearly £70 totally wasted and we certainly will not be visiting their again. What happened to the good food that we enjoyed previous and the ducks are no longer allowed in the garden which is a terrible shame as they were one of the reasons we used to...
Read moreAll round great experience.
The covid measure here are great, hand sanitizer everywhere and pointed out by staff, they ask you to do check and trace once seated with QR codes on every table. All staff have masks, didn't see one team member not wearing one. Social distancing and one way system All firmly in place. Really impressed with how sincerely they took it all.
The service was great as well, from being taken from the front door to our seats, to ordering and throughout the service was great. Attentive without being too much and food arriving and plates being cleared was all very timely as well.
Now, the food itself. Again, great! Baked camenberg was delicious, bit odd ot had sliced toast rather than real bread but it tasted lush and the red onion chutney was delicious as well. The signature bbq burger tastes fresh and you could taste each ingredien. Skin on fries were perfect. And randomly, the mocha I had to help keep me warm was actually one of the best I've ever had, unexpected!
Nice setting next to a river in Titchfield, I'll def be adding it to my list of nice country pubs I want to go to for outside foods. It is a Greenking but forget your city centre or town based Greenkings this could easily be mistaken for a country independent local...
