One of the worst meals I have ever been served!I I was staying at the hotel over the road who don’t offer food on a Tuesday so was recommended 2 local pubs in this village, unfortunately I made the wrong choice and came here. I sat in the restaurant tucked out of the way, I ordered the steak with hand cut chips. The service was quite efficient, however, when the food arrived my eyes were immediately drawn to what I can only believe was the peppercorn sauce, it resembled microwaved mayonnaise that the chef had tipped a whole pot of peppercorns in, looked disgusting and was completely tastless. The description of hand cut chips on the menu, turned out to be frozen, not hand cut and hardly contained any potato. I hadn’t been given a steak knife by the waitress, so started to eat the steak with the standard cutlery, the steak wasn’t too bad but half of it was inedible fat. When I complained to the waitress that the food was terrible, she just looked at me blankly and then just walked off, no apology, nothing. I went up to the bar to reluctantly pay for the food, given I had complained I wasn’t offered any sort of discount and in fact waitress tried to over charge me, when I questioned the bill she rectified it. Had I not have been travelling n my own I would have definitely refused to pay for this meal, I had no option on this review to upload photographs Terrible food,...
Read moreGroup of three, following long circular walk from Titchfield, opted for lunch in the village and chose the Queens Head as it was open with a blackboard advertising food. Found out there was a new landlord, only on his tenth day. The staff were very friendly and had printed a lunchtime menu with good choices. The special of the day was lamb shank which two of us opted for. It was superbly cooked and served with veg, mash and excellent gravy. There was also a good selection of drinks and beers on tap. We sat outside, but could have chosen either the bar or the restaurant (another bar really) to eat. Having never been in previously, partly because the pub looked rather dated from the outside, this turned out to be a great experience; internally it is lovely and other guests were complimentary about the food. Cant speak for previous times, but the new landlord is clearly doing a great job and deserves the support of locals and visitors. I thoroughly recommend and hope business picks up and the Queens Head thrives once more. Long live our...
Read moreSunday lunch had beef which was ok vegetables as well, roast potatoes x3 2 were over cooked the 3rd was so black it should of never left the kitchen. Other meal fish coujons...they were not like the normal ones that would have more like fish in batter although 3 which was generous, so called chips were well over cooked and very dark tarta sauce was underneath most of the meal which I think should of been in ramikin separate. When plates were collected and mentioned all this just got a blank look and said would pass onto chefs,1 chef came out but went to the other table (think it might of been someone connected to pub) and asked if all was OK reply was yes so I would think that they didn't want to speak to us.Just before leaving another member of staff asked about the meals explained to them the situation but only got a sorry manager not here and will speak to chefs. There was not even a gesture of good will like a free dessert.Pretty...
