Horrible experience...... Went here for the first time last night as mate said they had a large screen to watch the football on. Got there at 6.30pm to be greeted by a miserable almost angry child serving behind the bar and was charged almost £12 for a Fosters and a single vodka and diet coke which was slammed down on the bar as though she wasn't happy working on a really busy Saturday night and i thought the 2 drinks seemed rather expensive...Mate turned up with his wife and I then ordered another Fosters and a gin and tonic and was charged £8 odd. The next full round via a different bar lady of the exact same drinks then cost me £15 odd bizarrely so unless the youngster is overcharging and pocketing the difference i don't know what was going on. Half way through one pint i finally figured out why i kept tasting something sweet as the glass was filthy and i was licking some kind of sticky sauce every sip but one of the staff (lad looked about 14 and scared everytime anyone spoke to him) happily changed for another pint, but still the cleanliness of the place isn't that great including the toilets...Decided to order food for all 4 of us but they couldn't do steak fajitas because they said they had no steak yet mate had a mixed grill which obviously came with steak (which was incredibly fatty) and eggs that were fried to within an inch of their life so no runny yolk (is it that hard to cook an egg)? i had the chicken tikka massala and the chicken was really overcooked to the point of being hard and the naan bread was like chewing cardboard. At 10.30pm we were told we had to go inside the pub as they weren't allowed glass outside after 10pm (is that a thing)? it was already half an hour late anyway. Then the woman that seemed to be running the bar who was sweating like a basted turkey out of the oven since the moment we got there eventually started wrestling our half drunk drinks out of our hands after claiming we had been told to finish our drinks 3 times at closing time and was man handling us all out the door and said "see you next time" but obviously we will never be returning to that horrid place. We said to the young girl she needs to sort her attitude out and she screamed at us at the top of her voice and then i guess it was the owner said "that's my daughter".. well if it is, you need to teach her some manners and how to deal with the public if she is going to be serving people full time....I think if people aren't happy in their work then they should look for another job, it's not hard to smile when you are customer facing or treat the customers with a little respect if you want and need them to come back as they / us are the ones that keep you in business. We spent almost £300 between the 4 of us and will happily take our money elsewhere...
Read moreStopped at the pub on the way home with elderly mother in law for dinner. Had been out and didn't have a card on me only cash. I was told I could only open a tab with cash indoors so I went inside to open a tab and she told me I could only use a card and they weren't allowed to take cash it was company policy. This is clearly untrue because we went to the Greene King in Warsash by the water and they took cash and didn't have a problem with it. So I can pay by cash but I need a card to open a tab. How does that make any sense at all? Utter nonsense. The staff were being difficult and I would have thought that because of the tough times the pub Industry has been through they would not have let customers walk out of their pub. The pub was empty there were probably 3 tables occupied whereas the pub 200 yards up the road was absolutely packed. You seriously need to look at the service you offer customers and how far you are prepared to go to attract and keep your customers. Your pub and your customer service simply isn't good enough. I will not be returning and neither will I recommend it to anyone, I will actually encourage people to...
Read moreFirst time we have been there, 4 of us went for dinner and drinks, everything was very good apart from my mixed grill, asked for it to be well done, cut in to the steak and it was more like medium, a lad came over to see if everything was ok so I just had a very quiet and polite word about the steak and just let the chef know, after he went I started on the chicken that was only just warm, so I left half of that, another lad come to clear the table and I mentioned about the steak and the chicken just so that they know that there was a problem, I was thinking that someone would have just mention to the manager that there was a problem be someone say sorry mate can I buy you a beer, I would of just said that's not necessary but thank you for coming over then they would of got 5 stars.all the other food was spot on, when I went up to pay the chap that served me looked like he was the big cheese, asked me how it all was and I very quietly and very politely told him, it seems that nobody had mentioned it. We will be going back because there are things on the menu that I would like to try. Will be back in...
