This bar restaurant is very upscale with it's food. Portions were generous and the soup tasted homemade. Both starters and main courses were very lightly seasoned, which is great if you're on a low salt diet. Which is a nice touch! This venue is a find. It's on bar with the BEST of Kings Lynn, Bury St E, Ely and Downham Market. Plus the establishment does have some working aircon. They have a vegan and vegetarian options but you have to ask for them. It would be better for their business to advertise this more as had a friend not recommended this place, I'd have swiped left thinking it didn't have any options. Simply offering great vegetarian and vegan food at a high level is standard most other restaurants don't do. There's none of the cheesy risottos, Pete pasta or Halloumi burgers. Well done The service was very attentive and professional. The garlic cheese mushrooms are recommended, it'd have been a little nicer to have a few different types. I had a nice chunky red pepper and tomato soup, super sweet and served with soft white bread. I tried the butternut squash wellington, it was a massive plate with a lot of veg, gravy and an interesting baked mashed potato with skin. It is recommended and interesting.

Pro ::: Lovely seafood platter for two, catered for 3+ Very accommodating chef, attentive staff. Cons:: not many people, restaurant was cold, need a jacket or a wrap . Entering the restaurant tables didn’t look inviting, not set for service. Would we go back , yes other dishes we saw served look appealing/ appetising, but will dress for a chill in the dining room . Appreciate not always easy to keep a warm temperature in a big restaurant dining room .

Although we arrived on a busy Saturday night and there had been various unbooked tables just ahead of us which had set times back a bit we received a fantastic, warm, friendly welcome. Every member of staff was great and the food was, well let's just say, well worth waiting for. Thanks again to Bev for the extra custard lol. Highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. *****

So, the review is based on a single visit and the Valentine’s set menu so if it sounds a bit harsh I apologise, maybe an off day for the restaurant.

We booked the restaurant because we haven’t been since it changed from the West End, and it wasn’t the best experience then, and also as the menu had the type of dishes that my wife enjoys. There was no set menu when I originally booked and it only changed on the day, so my wife was a little upset that the meal she wanted wasn’t available.

The restaurant was never more than half full, but the staff all seemed to be very rushed and slightly disorganised, and seeing that the menu was limited, there was a long wait in between courses. after our starter, they then bought us another, which we declined but they didn’t know who it was for. At one point I asked for another drink and was told, albeit friendly but firmly, that they had another customer to serve so I have to wait but never did get that drink.

The food was okay, we are not snobby by any means, but it wasn’t of a standard that was any different to a premier inn type restaurant or something you could make at home yourself. The steak was cooked well and the salmon was nice but lacked flavour, The rockslide brownie was less of a brownie and more like a protein slice, you could make a far more moist and flavoursome one using chocolate spread, flour and an egg.

The food wasn’t horrible, just missing that ‘oooh, that’s nice’ moment.

We both struggled to work out the identity of the restaurant, it felt a bit like an English restaurant trying to make it in Spain by attracting English tourists, and failing. The name, sign design, standard menu and its prices give the impression it is more upscale but it just didn’t pull this off during our experience.

We will go back, just to be sure we hadn’t been on an off day, we love a Sunday roast as a family but I wouldn’t take the in-laws yet unless I was confident it wouldn’t...

Sad to say, not a fine dining pub, so please don't be fooled by the other reviews. Here's why:

  1. Not sure if it was a bad night for the chef but both mine and my husbands mains, came with elements in the starter and mains not as described. E.g. Neither fondant potatoes nor 'crushed potatoes' are x2 skin on small potatoes cut in 4 and insides pressed a little down with a nob of butter - this is what we got in either of our meals.

If the chef doesn't know how to do elements of a meal, tell the customer the dish they are ordering is unavailable, so they are not disappointed and feel cheated after paying ÂŁ10/ÂŁ20 odd for a starter/main that isn't special at all and reflective of price.

  1. For a fine dining pub, how is there no wine or drinks menu? The waitress blamed their not having the menus down to the fact the menus were never up-dated and so often inaccurate! Also, offering a Rioja red wine from a popular brand you can buy in Asda over the road for ÂŁ9 and then selling it to us for ÂŁ20, is rather insulting

  2. Chairs were uncomfortable and no effort made with the lighting or table decor to charge the prices they are charging, for a 'fine dining pub' experience.

Only upside for us was that the waitresses were friendly.....

I hate writing bad reviews but after wanting to go to Blues for a long time and finally getting the chance to go for a treat night out, was left really disappointed :( - we won't...

I had come in with my partner, It started out nice and peaceful until i overheard the kitchen area tgere was lots of shouting and tgere was banging going on i overheard someone say that they “powdered their nose” before they came into their shift. The food was overly cooked so i asked for a soup instead, however inside of my soup i was shocked too see a thick white pastey substance floating on the top? Me and my partner said it looked like someone had spat into my tomato soup so we asked the waitress about it and she said it was seasoning which you could clearly see it wasnt it was bubbly smelly and chunky so furthermore I had too leave and i will be calling health and safety check i am very distraught and disappointed and i would never come back into blues restraunt which is very upsetting as i’ve eaten there regularly and did quite enjoy my meals but this is ruined any chance of going back in. Besides that the waitresses were polite but the noise from the kitchen and the conversations very loudly saying about cocaine and other substances I asked for the chef too come out but she stated she was very busy cooking but there was no one there and everyone had their food and the water i was given too wash my mouth also had the thick sludge floating on the top so thank you but i will not be...
