The Moja — Restaurant in Fenland District

So I’ve waited a few days to reflect and I still have to share the awful service and experience I had at the Moja (formerly Moghul) last week. I haven’t been for a few years due to my previous visits ending in disputed bills that were never itemised! 🤷🏻‍♂️. 7 of us booked in for 7.30 last Thursday (banquet night!). After waiting an age to be seated, then served etc we finally got our food at 9.30! This is when the fun started!!!! Our waiter dropped an entire curry over one of us and although obviously embarrassed didn’t apologise and carried on serving the other dishes leaving management to come clear up. Obviously upon finishing we asked for our bill which was dramatically over charged! Asking management to please check we were met with much attitude and tbh aggression! After 10 minutes of watching him at the bar just talking with his colleague he eventually came back, threw the bill on the table and said “I don’t know what you expect me to do!” So I asked/explained firstly why it was £15 a head instead of the price displayed outside & inside the restaurant stating £10.95 banquet Thursday and his reply was “it’s Christmas we can charge what we want!” Although I don’t agree we paid that price however we then asked about our mystery drinks to which he again said “can you prove what you had?” Luckily we knew exactly what we had which worked out at around £28 difference!!! Not to mention the 50p popadums x 14 that cost us £19!!! At the end of a pointless conversation the other owner came over and said “we’ve had a profitable night so just pay what you want!” (It was not said in nice way either, just smug!) We paid our exact bill despite being tempted to take him up on his offer and pay a token gesture! And this is again the reason that so many people just do not use this restaurant! You are simply thief’s of your customers, end of! Ps Moja I don’t think the Curry stains come out but then I guess that’s not your problem...

I visited this restaurant with the intention of ordering food, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing due to the staff's behavior. Upon attempting to place an order, the staff member was very rude, arrogant, and discourteous. They told me not to place the order and to leave, which was completely unacceptable.

Additionally, the staff member imposed unreasonable conditions on placing an order. They stated that orders under £10 are not accepted, with a condescending comment implying I wouldn't "die" by ordering a higher amount. Furthermore, for orders below £10 where I wanted to pay by card, they demanded an extra £2-3 charge. This behavior was unprofessional and unwelcoming.

The lack of professionalism and courtesy displayed by the staff made the visit unpleasant and unwelcoming. Given that customer service is a fundamental aspect of any dining experience, the behavior exhibited by the staff fell severely short of expected standards.

I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment until significant improvements are made in staff training and customer interaction. The food quality, regardless of how good it might be, cannot compensate for such poor...

Food was really nice but I don't like the way as soon as you sit down they put a load of poppadoms infront of you ! Never asked for them but will charge you if you don't eat them ,there was 6 of us and they brought out 14 poppadoms !!! We said we only want a couple and was told just have a few and leave the rest ! Then got charged for 6 which we didn't have that many ,so in future as soon as you sit down say if you want poppadoms and how many as £7 for 6 and 2.50 for each lot of chutneys they bring soon bumps thr bill up but food was really nice just don't like...
