We had high hopes for this restaurant based on previous reviews, but unfortunately this did not live up to our expectations. We visited this evening (Tuesday 24th August 2021) on our last night of our stay in Folkestone. For a start, the waitress taking my order came so close to me that I could feel her breath on me and I reacted by moving myself backwards and this too in Covid19 times. The majority of staff were not wearing masks, which was also off putting.
The starters (onion bhaji, spring rolls and vegetable momo) were nice, which is why I have awarded two stars. Unfortunately, the service was appalling. One young waitress who didn't know what she was doing, made mistakes with the order, which resulted in delays and then we received curries at out table, but naan breads and rice had been forgotten! On top of that the waiting time between starters and main course was ridiculously long at around 45 minutes and they were not even that busy! One's patience runs thin when waiting times between courses are so long and especially with a child in the group.
The naan breads came out with the outer edges burnt and instead of politely admitting that, the waitress tried to tell me that this is how naan breads are supposed to be. I have been eating naan breads in restaurants in London and elsewhere for years and I haven't seen burnt edges like that and therefore I sent them back and she removed this from my bill. These waitresses desperately need some basic customer service training.
Moreover, the vegetarian and vegan choices were very limited. I would avoid this place and...
Read moreI had never been to this place before and only stumbled across it due to them giving away furniture. So I messaged the ad on Facebook and asked if what I was after was still available and was told to go down between 9am and 12pm. Which I did. I got there for 9am. The manager/owner wasn't in yet and after the staff called him, I was told he would be there in 5 minutes.
The staff were lovely and offered me a drink while I was waiting.
After half an hour and a few phone calls from the staff, he finally arrives. I explained again what I was there for and was actually laughed at.
After a bit of discussion, he told me to take the chair and pointed to one next to a main eating his breakfast (I'm so sorry if that man is reading this). The whole cafe was looking at me at this point. I was then left to try and get the chair through the doors without help. Honestly, one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I was made to feel so small just from responding to a Facebook ad... I can honestly say I will never be returning to this place to put money in that man's pocket. Such a rude person!
If I hadn't been made to wait half an hour I think I would have just walked out without the chair.
If the manager/owner reads this. Maybe make it clear what your ad is advertising and try being on time when you give a time to someone else. Your manners could do with...
Read moreExcellent food. Really nice curries and cappuccino. Terrible service.
Two of the staff were friendly. One young lady was not, she couldn't seem to get anything right sadly.
It was very quiet at lunchtime.
I asked for the bill to be split into two tabs, it was not. 3 of our 4 drinks didn't turn up, we had to push for them several times.
I asked for a tap water that didn't materialise.
1 of 3 curries had no chutney as the other two did. We asked for this but it didn't come, had to push for it.
We asked for 3 Shandy's, they said they could do 2 bottles of beer and 1 sparking water but they brought 5 beers and two sparking waters and charged us for 3 beers in the end and two sparking waters which we didn't use all or ask for.
The disabled toilet floor was wet, I asked for it to be dried but it wasn't, had to do this myself.
The staff seemed a little confused, one of them repeatedly and she was a little difficult to deal with. She couldn't seem to remember anything too well or quite grasp what we needed.
There wasn't really any followup to check things were ok. Had to go up to ask for...
