Big chef Eats (Big chef eats)Big chef Eats (Big chef eats)
So i went to check out a restaurant for lunch and unfortunately it was close so I wanted to find a quick alternative and ive been meaning to check out viet street for some time so I paid them a visit . Upon entering the staff were very friendly , polite and helpful . I went for the salt and pepper chicken wings and then the cam bo kho , this was my first time trying Vietnamese food so I was intrigued as to what it would be like . First up the salt and pepper wings these were certainly value for money portions were great and you get these great big wings , the Chinese lovely and moist and the tastiest outer coating lovely and crisp !. Then came the cam bo kho which Is slow cooked beef cooked in count with carrot accompanied with rice !! This was outstanding , the beef just melts in your mouth packed with tons of flavour then that slow cooked carrot !! I’ve never had a tastier carrot ! Paired with lovely fluffy rice Overall I paid about £22.50 and for what you get it was surely value for money if your ever in Folkestone go check them out . I visited during opening week. Two years later I am pleased to say that the food is still tasty and is good value for money. Highly recommended for vegetarians who love fresh veg and tofu, which is available in all menu sections. Fish or shrimp sauce is likely to be used. Recomended for gatherings of up to 20 people in the comfortable cellar. Recommended for wheelchair users. One of the few restaurants locally has an accessable entrance and toilet. See photos. for wheelchair users. My overall impression is delicate flavours, excelent noodles, and good veg. The Bo kho beef stew tasted nice and the beef was perfect. Bahn xeo ga crepe was fun but may be too oily for some. The mango salad was fresh and tasty. The steamed veg and tofo came with rice. Stamed rice rolls are an interesting pasta alternative.

Nipped in for lunch with my family. The staff were warm and welcoming, alongside the already inviting aroma from the kitchen! Staff helped us decide what to have and answered all our questions about the dishes. The decor was warm and a lil quirky without being loud. Where we sat we could smell our food as it was being prepared, which only got us more excited at what we chose. The food was delicious! I definitely recommend the chicken wings, summer rolls and the glass noodle dishes. The only thing I would recommend, if you're not a fan of coriander, make sure to request that they don't put it in. I forgot to ask myself, but that's my mistake. Regardless, the food was amazing, the service was lovely and I would love to go again!

NOTICE: service charge does not go to the serving staff and kept by management at time of visit.

Food overall was good - had banh xeo (Vietnamese pan cake) and some pho. The banh xeo was somewhat too oily for me - left a coating of oil on my lips and inside my mouth which is not something I enjoy. Perhaps I’m used to how my mum cooks them - leaves on wire rack for a couple of minutes to allow the oil to drip off and use very little oil to fry. Personal preference so my overall 3 star is not based on this.

What was disappointment was a 10% service charge which was automatically added to the bill. There was no mention of this on the menu that I could see and the bill does not indicate it to be discretionary either. What made it worse was on discretely checking with the serving staff (not owners) we found out the staff keeps nothing of this service charge.

Owners should either just increase the price, be more transparent with this “service charge” or actually give this to their staff. I felt the right thing to do was to leave an extra tip to the server despite having to pay their service charge.

If it weren’t for this, I would likely return to give the food another try. Disappointed that I won’t be returning...

We stopped in here a day or two ago. It was during lunch and there were two ladies running the front. As far as we could tell there was one server available to the customers in the restaurant-- a blonde middle aged woman I am unsure of her name. The food was great. The flavor and sauces really sets this place apart and I have no complaints. Unfortunately, the server really put a damper on the entire experience. Either she is untrained or incompetent in handling the stress of being a server. She was running around the floor, talking to herself and confusing costumers, helping individuals out of order, forgetting dishes. She served us our main dishes before our appetizers. By the time they came out, we honestly did not even want them anymore, but they were delicious. The server also was avoiding her tables which obviously needed bussed and their bill while also simultaneously helping individuals who looked like they just wanted to be left alone. Honestly, just get take out if she is working it is not worth the...
