Nine Dragons Chinese Takeaway — Restaurant in Folkestone and Hythe District

I last ate from nine Dragons in 2021 and it was really good so I was very disappointed with this less than good take away and service. Firstly, I would say that the chips were good and the curry sauce was good. Among other things we ordered duck in plum sauce and chicken in yellow bean sauce and crispy pork balls. The duck had large bits of fat and soggy skin on and the light brown thin sauce was very greasy, tasting of very little with lots of pieces of pineapple. No hint of plum sauce at all. The chicken in yellow bean was chicken smeared with a purple coloured substance that could have passed as a plum sauce. We thought that the two dishes had been mixed up so we called the shop. She said that's how we cook the duck so I suggest you don't order that again. She agreed to change it but not the "yellow" bean dish. The new duck dish came with less flavour than the first so it went in the bin. £13 wasted out of £66! The pork balls contained a reddish meat which ive never seen in this dish ever, but we guessed it was barbecued pork but a lot of them were more fat than meat. We couldn't be bothered to argue about this one. Had we been offered a better solution we may have used this place again but the poor customer service has put us off going back...

This takeaway seems to have been taken over by new management, because we used to order from here all the time. We won't be doing that anymore.

To start, the lady on the phone was very rude to my mum. The lady didn't understand what she was saying, even when clearly saying the food items. Part of our order was a Chicken Chow Mein with no peas. This took several attempts to get across to her. We were told that it would be a 45-60 minute wait, which for a Saturday we were expecting.

After 75 minutes the food still had not arrived, and after two phone calls with the lady (first one telling us it was on its way, and then another one 10 minutes later saying bluntly "I know, it's on it's way"), we decided to cancel. The takeaway location is 5 minutes from us.

After telling them we cancelled, the food showed up. The Chow Mein was, quite frankly, the worst one I've ever had. There was no sauce, and it was only dry noodles and pieces of chicken - no veggies, beansprouts of any kind.

Don't waste your time on this takeaway place, go...

Arguably one of the BEST Chinese take aways in Folkestone by far! I've been going to this establishment for years to satisfy my Chinese food craving and they always deliver punctually with great phone service and of course delicious food.

One time I did have an issue with my order (due to the platform I ordered from rather than the restaurant itself) however as soon as I contacted them the issue was dealt with swiftly and made me feel very valued as a customer.

Times are tougher than ever right now and the fact this company can continue to go above and beyond for customer satisfaction and great tasting dishes says a lot about their staff and their passion for cooking.

Delivery is always prompt and the drivers are so friendly with food always piping hot and handled with care, it puts the bigger companies delivery drivers to shame.

I will always be a loyal customer to 9 Dragons, I'm just upset I have no pictures of my meal tonight but to say I was hungry was an understatement. Keep up the good work...
