Bay Horse — Restaurant in Gateshead

We had a really good experience here. We were looking for a dog friendly pub that wouldn't be too busy and noisy for our dog. Got to the pub, and it was quite noisy and busy inside... but then it was a Friday evening, so we anticipated it would be.

Even though it was a little chilly, we sat outside as it was quieter. The outdoor seating is nicely laid out and had a nice relaxed feel to it.

Ordering food by the app was so easy, and you can do it without visiting the busy bar. Great if you have a dog.

The food was great. Tasted good and looked good. One side order was wrong, but they quickly changed it and brought it back out with lots of apologies.

We also placed an app order for Chardonnay, but they'd run out and came out to tell us and ask if we wanted a different wine. When this was brought out, they said they'd put the 50p difference back onto our card without us asking. Brilliant.

A great pub that is well...

My wife recently held her retirement party in the private upstairs function room which was attended by approximately 50 guests. The room itself was ideal for her requirements and the staff were first class from the booking/planning stage through to the event itself. The supplied buffet was excellent quality, regularly replenished and very good value. The large downstairs bar which has multiple screens showing live sports allowed guests to take a break from the party as they saw fit. Booked the upstairs room for a retirement party as I already knew the Bay Horse was a great venue. We were blown away by the amazing buffet they put on. It was one of the best I've ever had good variety and very generous too. Every guest took a doggy bag home with them. The staff made the booking easy and were so attentive making sure we had everything we needed and were happy on the night. Our barmaid was fantastic too, no one had to queue, she kept our tables clear and remembered all of our drinks orders.
