Unsafe for women.
My boyfriend and I were on a mini-break in Gloucester so figured why not check o it the local nightlife. This is your standard cheesy nightclub, and for the most part we enjoyed good vibes and cheap drinks. However while chatting in the corner of the room I observed a man squatting on the dance floor - I initially thought he had dropped something, until I realised he was looking up - directly up into a girls skirt.
Fortunately I wasn’t the only person to spot this, as I saw another woman come over to tell the girl who had been the victim what had happened, and then she went over to a bouncer. I also went over, thinking that multiple independent sources verifying what had just happened would obviously lead to consequences - just like in every other club I’ve ever been to.
The bouncer in question was dismissive and suspicious. He initially accused me of conspiring with the other girl - impossible as I have never once been to Gloucester! Once I seemed convinced him that I didn’t know anyone in question and was just there on holiday, he then suggested that I was lying because I “didn’t like the look” of the gentleman in question.
It seemed that to the bouncer, the most likely scenario was that multiple women had made up what had happened.
He said that he couldn’t remove the man as he didn’t see it happen himself. But seriously - who would do something like that in view of a bouncer?! And how many people witnessing something does it take for you to believe it happened? It defies logic.
I am honestly staggered that multiple people could report witnessing blatant sexual harassment and be completely dismissed.
It was a horrible feeling having seen something so blatant and so violating happen, and then to be completely dismissed. It was an even worse feeling to see the man in question be apologised to by the bouncer and allowed continue his night - now he knows he can get away with this kind of behaviour.
I would appreciate if management could make it clear what their policy is regards sexual assault and harassment in their premises.
And ladies, come here if you want but know that you’ll only be safe if a bouncer...
Read moreI have been to Fever many times in the past and never had any issues, however after the way the Manager and door staff treated myself and friends last night, I will never go there again. First of all we had been to the races and won some money, so we ordered three double vodka and cokes to be then told the £20 we used was fake, so we said fine and used another £20 we had from the races: they served us drinks and then the doorman who I can only describe as vertically challenged asked us to go outside for a chat, we held up no resistance and we were told we couldn’t take our drinks with us outside and to leave them, being a Mother of two children I always tell them to never leave their drinks unattended, so we refused to do this, the doorman became aggressive and told us to get out. After speaking to a Policeman outside, who said there wasn’t anything he could do, the vertically challenged doorman said we had tried to put fake money in his tills, sorry but I didn’t realise the door staff own the club as well as work there. We then went to Butlers and the staff were really nice behind the bar, I asked two of them to check the £20 and they both assured me it was real.
When leaving Butlers, I saw what I thought might be the Manager stood outside, I approached him to ask if he was the Manager and he replied he was, first of all he said he wasn’t speaking to three of us, even though I was the only one talking, so I told my friends to go away, I explained what happened and he said he already knew what had happened and his attitude was not that befitting for someone in his position. He clearly wasn’t interested and then walked away.
All I can suggest to the Manager and some of the door staff is more training and learning good communication skills, as they clearly have none. Just because you where a uniform it doesn’t give you power. Maybe they need that to function in normal society. I just feel that they create more trouble and friction and they wonder why now there is more trouble and fighting than...
Read moreI visited this bar on Saturday night. I was with a group of around 10 and we paid for entry for all of us. After waiting at the bar for around 20 minutes, and seeing others get served much quicker, my friend had put his hand out to ask for service. He was entirely polite. The security had then asked the group to leave. What followed was merely an abuse of power, to which the police are investigating also.
My friend was floored and badly beaten by around 7 of your bouncers. One of your female bouncers had clearly had her hands directly around his throat, and several times he had said “I cannot breathe”. This was n excessive use of force, to which criminal charges are being pressed.
I personally had my fingers and my leg broken (GRH shall be happy to confirm too) by yours bouncers. Again, another example of the excessive use of force.
I would steer clear of this bar at all costs.
FEVER - I’m sure you’ll be the first to review the CCTV, and you shall see the excessive use of force used. I’ll be happy to hear from you as to what you will be doing as a result of this physical assault carried out...
