Spice Kitchen — Restaurant in Gosport

My first visit to SPICE KITCHEN resulted in a very poor customer service. I called on behalf of my father an order totalling £28. I was asked whether it was cash or card and do I want delivery. I said card and I would pick it up as often it’s much hotter on arrival. When I arrived and paid , I noticed on the menu that you received 10% off for orders over £12 but that it was for online orders only. I asked if I could claim the 10% off but the representative said it was for only cash orders. I said that could have been made more clear when I called. I also said that on the menu it says 10% off for online orders and not cash so what was it? He said cash. I said that should be in the menu then. I pointed out that you should just give 10% off for orders over £12 whether phone or online. My local Indians all do this and there is no difference between how you pay for it. It discriminates against those that can’t order online - namely the elderly. A quick £2.80 off would have proven a win win situation. I should point out that delivery was free to my area but that was not pointed out in the phone call either so I saved the takeaway further funds by collecting myself. Consistent curries that are excellent. We order here regularly, delivery is quick and the spice levels are consistent. Naan breads are top drawer and often we ask for something specific ie heat level or ingredients and they oblige. Prices are as expected. The madras is excellent, with that lovely tang that a good madras has, dhansak is clearly authentic with lentils used. The tarkha dhal can be a bit loose on occasions but lovely and garlicky. Never had any kind of stomach issues after and a 5 food hygiene rating. A mushroom madras would be a handy addition to the menu, but we usually order the mushroom bhaji and a madras sauce for the veggie in the house. Recently moved to the area, and was worried about trying to find a new place to get our Indian cuisine. I need not to have worried after ordering with Spice Kitchen. The gentleman taking my order explained the spice levels for my partner with one of their dishes and also made an alteration to one of their dishes for myself.
