Went in for Christmas Eve dinner with my fiancée and her parents, and had the Dallas steak, rare. I like to think I know a good steak when I have one, so when I tell you that this might just be the best steak I've ever eaten in my 40+ years of life, I'm not exaggerating. Cooked to perfection, hardly a bit of fat on it, absolutely tremendous. The brie starter was was also excellent.
Service was brilliant, too. Fully 5 stars there. They all knew their menu well and gave good recommendations, had a good wee bit of cheeky chat with us and they just the right level of attentive without being intrusive.
Marked them down on atmosphere for 2 reasons:
• First, the music was really loud. It was just your standard Christmas playlist, so not terrible, but I struggled to hear everyone at the table and it was only a wee table of 4.
• Second, the "entertainment". They had a singer booked towards the end of the night, and he was truly, truly dreadful. Comically bad. This guy changed keys more than Timpson's employee of the month, and with less finesse. I'm not joking when I tell you we only recognised a couple of songs by certain lyrics, not by the melody.
To Alba, if you read this, the food and the service were superb; next level good. Turn the music system down just a bit, and ditch the bad karaoke singer, and you've got a perfect dining experience. We will definitely be back (when there's no...

We visited Alba for the first time as local diners and were thoroughly impressed. The décor strikes a great balance between quirky and modern – it feels fresh and welcoming without being over the top.
From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely 10/10 – friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The staff made us feel like valued guests throughout our visit.
While waiting for our steaks (which understandably took some time to prepare), we ordered starters – halloumi and mozzarella sticks. Both were nicely done and a great way to start the meal.
For mains, I had the 500g tomahawk steak cooked medium rare – it was incredible. The chargrilled sear gave it that perfect smoky flavor, and the touch of salt on the side brought everything together beautifully. We also tried the filet, which was just as impressive – tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
I wasn’t a big fan of the triple-cooked chips, and the onion rings would have been better homemade, but those are minor details in what was otherwise a fantastic meal.
Drinks were on point, the atmosphere was relaxed but lively, and again, the staff and service were second to none.
If you’re a fan of steak, Alba is absolutely worth a visit – we’ll...
Read moreMassively over priced, ordered peri peri chicken wings for the starter, very tough and overcooked and no peri peri flavour, just plain chicken wings, and only 3 very small wings, mostly bone and hardly any chicken. sirloin steak and chips for the main, asked for a medium rare, but when I got it and cut into it, it was very, very rare, and not seasoned, had to send it back, my daughter ordered the kids burger and chips but couldn't eat the burger because it was over seasoned with pepper and not very pleasant to eat, especially for a child. waitress was very arrogant, couldn't smile and looked like she wasn't happy to be there and clearly couldn't be pleasant to customers, she took my daughter's order for dessert and forgot about it, I tried to get her attention but she was more interested in her mobile phone behind the bar, and eating bars of chocolate, with her back turned. I eventually got the waiters attention after about 15mins and he asked her about my daughter's dessert and she was very unhappy about the waiter reminding her about my order, and stormed off into the kitchen. Not a nice lunch experience and definitely will NOT be back, £50 waisted, don't waste your...
