Not family friendly. They do not like families here. People with children are not made to feel welcome despite a children's food menu. Bar lady extremely rude and obnoxious no politeness about her - becky I think (the landlady's daughter!). Our dog was made to feel more welcome than us as a family. At 3.30pm in an empty pub it was myself and my husband who were told to be quiet because we were enjoying a family game of cards with our 2 children. Our children who I might add are very socially aware and integrated and will happily have a well mannered, polite conversation in any environment. They were not running around the pub being disruptive or causing chaos. They were sat at the table with their parents, a table we chose on the side of the pub with no one else around to enjoy a card game. Children should be seen and not heard is very antiquated. If you don't like children just don't allow them in instead of making families feel very unwelcome and humiliated just by having a good time together as a family. My children were very upset as were we. Don't expect to be spoken to like that by anyone especially when we are just a family having some family time together after an extremely long week. Absolutely so disappointed in the black swan. No one complained about us. No one came to the bar in the time we were sat there it was that empty. Also the previous review is very convenient, a timely family friendly review. The food is over priced...
Read moreNot exsactly disability aware.
I've been popping in to the mucky duck once or twice a summer for probably 10 years.
Today we go thier & I noticed all the disabled parking was taken up by non-blue badge holders.
I politely asked If they monitored the parking spaces? I was told very bluntly, by the owner "It's a private car park. One of the cars is mine. If you have a blue badge you can park in the street!"
So Needless to say, they'll never get a penny from me again.
Not quite sure why you'd have disability parking if you then choose to ignore it? Maybe it's just a tick box to make them look like they they care?
There was ample parking 100yrds away from the door, not sure why the owner couldnt park there and leave the disabled parking for those with mobility issues. Hey but it's thier car park, so it's thier right.
Shame really as the food is normally very nice.
The disability market is only worth over £200bn to the UK economy, there obviously doing OK without our custom. So if your disabled I'd leave them to it.
I went to The Robin Hoon 5mins away and will go thier...
Read morePre booked a table based on recommendations. We had to change the booking due to a flakey sister! The landlady thought this hilarious! But they accommodated our change without hesitation, and gave us a lovely table for two (see photos).
We were greeted by very nice bar staff and served a lovely pint or two. A delightful waitress showed us the menu with lots of choice, and went through what was available, a couple of dishes were off, but understandable due to our seating time.
We chose prawn twisters to start followed by faggots and a vegan burger. The food came quickly and was very tasty. Very attentive staff throughout. Keen to ask about how the food was and whether we wanted more drinks etc.
We decided to opt for pudding, this was a struggle as we were already full, but puddings were also lovely. Simple but worth it.
So, simply, great staff, great beer, great food, great value. Do visit.
Also we sat inside as it was late evening, but the river bank seating also looked wonderful with...
