I would like to start on a positive note, the rating I have left is no reflection on staff, décor, service. It’s just MASSIVELY OVERPRICED, save your money and go elsewhere. We attended Burger and Fish on a Monday in August 2021 and a child’s menu which consisted of chicken goujons and chips, Pasta and butter (Tomato sauce an option) and fish goujons all priced at £12.95 each, no drinks, no ice cream just big standard £2 meal servings priced at £12.95 and its nothing special. The two mains one burger and chicken burger come with no sides like onion rings, even coleslaw etc…and are way OVERPRICED £18+ and £16+ for the normal burger. The burger and small fries left us hungry. No squash was available for the children only hefty priced fruit juice…. See a pattern? So, it was water for our children (x3) and we looked at the wine menu £12 a glass!! or £34 a bottle, we are on holiday, so went for the bottle already realizing we should have walked out at £13 child’s menu….. and after a quick Google the bottle is £7.33 online (cheaper for them as they get trade). I understand and am more prepared to pay £20+ sometimes for a bottle of wine in a restaurant, but this was lunch with 3 kids and £108 bill and 3 hungry children as we walked out– We could have went to Steins or the chip shop across the road for a fraction of the price. We won’t return and would advise others to avoid, especially if you have children. If the price of their food was half what it was, it really was still over priced for what it is. (sincerely mean this in constructive feedback, food is average and overpriced, avoid if with children despite nice environment)

Looking around for somewhere to eat with my partner and we came across Burgers & Fish, as soon as we got through the door we were treated by Richard who served us throughout, he gave great service and made us welcome for our first visit. The food was amazing and we were really happy to have found this place. We shared the olives and bread to start (The bread was amazing) and they also make and sell their own Tomato ketchup which was fantastic, better than what you find in the shops! My partner had the chilli con carne burger for mains and I went for the almost famous burger which both came with fries, we couldn't handle any more as we were both stuffed after but the meal went down a treat with a nice cold pint. Would certainly come back again.

Ordered the squid and prawns to start, and by far the best starters I have had in a while and the prawns probably some of the best. We ordered the piggy burger and a bluecheese burger. Now we never finish a burger, but these were phenomenal. By far one of the best burgers we had ever eaten. Absolutely compliments to the chef, granted burgers can be easy, however many can be done wrong, these were perfect. Overall prices are higher, but I would rather pay more for excellent food. Would of liked to of seen staff a little more attentive and ideally not seeing the waitress yawning at 2pm hence the 4 stars... Overall would recommend, just from a staff POV, don't look tired around your guests.

Tucked away behind a hidden entrance and guiding guests up to the first floor, this restaurant exudes the charm of a true culinary gem. From the moment you step inside, the beautiful decor transports you to another world – soft, golden chandeliers casting a warm glow over plush leather seating and artwork that feels both timeless and inspired.

We started with the butterflied garlic prawns, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, and BBQ chicken wings that were fall-off-the-bone tender and irresistibly savory. For mains, we indulged in Cornish mussels bathed in a delicate cider sauce that was as flavorful as it was fresh, and a beautifully roasted hake served with Venetian black rice and a silky fennel sauce, a pairing that felt nothing short of perfection. To complement our meal, we shared a bottle of Carpe Diem, a local Cornish white wine, which was the ideal choice to elevate each seafood bite.

To round off this exquisite experience, we took the staff’s advice and ordered their recommended desserts. The Burnt Cheesecake was velvety and rich, leaving us in awe with every bite, and the brownie sundae was pure indulgence, an absolute treat.

From the attentive, knowledgeable staff to the thoughtful touches in each dish, this is a dining experience not to be missed. For anyone looking to enjoy casual dining in an elegant, hidden escape, this place is truly...

My family and friends have supported Burgers & Fish since they opened, but I'm afraid I can no longer recommend them to anyone after my recent visit. Given the massive decline in both quality and service I can only assume that they are under new management.

Upon arrival we were informed that we could only have our table for 2 hours, and although we hadn't been informed of this when booking it seemed perfectly reasonable. However, the service was very slow and by the end of the 2 hours we had only just been given dessert menus. A woman that I assume to be the restaurant manager approached the table, threw down the bill and snapped "I told you this would happen!!!". Very rude, and completely pointless given that the restaurant was less than half full.

The bill for 4 people was well over £200 and contained a strange surcharge. I queried this with a waitress who explained that it was because my children wanted sauce with their chips. £200+ for burgers & chips and they charge extra because someone had to walk 10 paces to get condiments for us.

The food was average and given the cost I have to say it was therefore very overpriced.

Burgers & Fish used to be great and it was clear that someone cared about it. Between the food quality, rude service and ridiculous surcharges it now feels as though they have nothing but contempt for their...
