Henlys Wine Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Great Britain

So , Went into this venue very clean and social distancing rules were excellent. Our server was very polite and nice. However ! I had to send my steak back due to it being well done rather than medium rare as requested. I was then told very rudely that it must be because it had been sat at my table for so long (I was no more than 60 seconds between food being delivered me while returning from my toilet break).

The lady (owner) then proceeds loudly to announce to the serving staff and open kitchen that it had been sent back over cooked as it had been on the table for so long.

In reality a steak does not go from medium rare to well done buy sitting in my plate. A steak was also sent back from another table for being not cooked enough. So in reality I think the owner simply got confused over the orders between tables.

I would have enjoyed the replacement steak which was cooked at the correct temperature but due to the owners attitude this was impossible.

I was quite upset her reaction rather than just sorting out the issue was to try and embarrass me due to her venue not serving the correct temperature of meat. Perhaps she needs to understand how cooking a steak works or more importantly how to serve customers correctly.

Shame as I am local to the venue and will not eat...

We visited Henlys while on holiday in Cornwall. We went on a Tuesday evening and they had a special offer on 2 basket meals for 12 quid. It was quiet in the bar area and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. They offer a choice of Cornish beers and cider, I had a pint of Korev and my wife chose a large glass of white wine. For our meal I had the chicken wings and my wife had the chicken strips, both of these were basket meals. Our son chose baked cod off the specials menu. All 3 meals were very tasty. Me and my son had deserts, he had a chocolate fondant, which he enjoyed very much, and I had the lemon tart, which was excellent. Change of owner warning. So what shown on the Google reviews cannot tell what the restaurant is these days. The service in the restaurant was okay but food was really not. We ordered one chill sweet chicken linguine and a burger with fried fish (can’t remember the exact name). We can’t reckon the noodles served can be considered as linguine in any ways, and the “linguine” was overly sweet. We even thought of asking for a bowl of water to put the noodle in so that it can downplay the taste. Meanwhile, the chicken was overcooked and hard to chew unfortunately.
