about our experience on Tuesday night (07/10). We booked a table and were seated for 6.40 with our drinks and order taken by 6.50. We waited an hour before we had to point out to the waiting staff that we still didn't have our food while she was giving the table next to us their main courses even though they hadn't even been seated when we made our order.
She went to the kitchen and said they were doing it now and to give us a round of drinks so we had basically been forgotten about from the kitchen or whoever put our order through. In the end we had to wait over an hour for our food to arrive and it was just 4 main courses.
My son had eaten half his burger and said his stomach was cramping and he felt sick so didn't want anymore, I then finished off his burger and within 15 mins I was the same, sore stomach, cramping and feeling sick. The rest of my family were fine so it had to be the burger.
The whole experience was disappointing and not only feeling sorry we had spent the money but physically ill.
It wasn't up to a basic standard, we were forgotten about to which it was barely apologised for and 2 of the 4 of us were left physically ill from the food. We work hard to be able to eat out occasionally with our family and on this occasion we have felt we have been let down.
Complaints to the management were met with them "refuting" my complaint as impossible! (even though the food questioned was the ONLY common item eaten, same symptoms and same time frame! Offered a "good will gesture" in the way of a voucher!
That was refused! I'm not sure why anyone would want to return to somewhere that made them physically ill!
Extremely disappointing experience and the management...
Read moreVisiting Sterling we were looking for a place to eat and wow found a real gem 💎 here. I was I little nervous as this was the first time we had eaten out since March, but I needed had worried. The location offers wonderful county views and the outside of this country gastro pub let's you know your in for a treat. As soon as we walked in there were hand sanitizer and we were welcomed by the friendly staff who showed us to our table. The decorate is really lovely and you don't even notice the perspex screens. The atmosphere is relaxed and I think they have pitched this view just right. It's high quality but without being pretentious, just our style. You are spoilt for choice on the menu and it took a while to decide what starter and main we wanted. I had the tempura prawns and my hubby had the haggis. On arrival I could tell, these aren't you big standard prawns that's pubs buy frozen, they were large juicy fat prawns freshly battered and cooked. Normally you get a bit of side salad that's looks like an after thought, not here, there is just as much thought, love care an attention in the salad and dressing. Hubbys haggis was also delicious, so tasty and moist. Main for me was sliced chicken breast, brandy and pink peppercorn sauce, mash and veg. Hubby had beef steak pieces in a rich gravy and topped with puff pastry. Both were excellent. Somehow, hubby had room for trio of sticky toffee pudding with custard, yes custard, finally a pub that sells custard with warm puddings! Then coffee to finish. I have to say, you couldn't ask for more from a gastro pub, fantastic location, great staff, top quality food and very very reasonable price. Thank you so much for making...
Read moreTook the family here on a wee trip down from Aberdeenshire, booked a week in advance as I knew it would be busy with the "eat out to help out" being a Monday night. The bar area and front of the restaurant has a lovely country pub feel. We were seated in a little room at the back which was quite cosy but there was a little draught from the doors to the outside area. The menu is nice and varied with something for all tastes, our drinks arrived quickly but we did have a 40-50 minute wait for our food (though it was busy) and my daughter fish was a little delayed than the rest of our meals but came out within an extra 2 mins. Everyone's meals were delicious, if we had one minor issue it was that the beef steak pie was SUPER salty on first taste but it did mellow out into a nice ale gravy when eaten with the pastry and veg, however the beef was beautifully cooked and tender. I had the chicken with haggis in a bacon/cream/whisky sauce which was very moreish and I couldve ladeled that sauce into my gob with abandon. We asked to see the dessert menu, as I had looked it up online and decided on a dessert with lemon curd on pastry with meringue, unfortunately the menu on the day was slightly different and that wasn't an option. My youngest took and ice cream cone "for the road" and all-in-all we all left pretty happy and would definately return. Due to the "eat out to help out" discount we had 3 mains, a kids meals and 4 drinks, £50.80 down to £25.40 which was icing...
