Small traditional pub with a warm friendly welcome by Gary. I liked the cosy ambience, though at Friday lunchtime it wasn't busy. It's at Causewayhead, with the Wallace Monument and museum not far away. (But that's up a steep climb by a narrow road or through the trees on a rough track. If you want to avoid the walk to the Monument, its website says there's a shuttle bus from the entrance kiosk - and there were folk waiting for it - but check the frequency). We just wanted a drink and a light bite after plodding up the hill and the pub was very convenient. I paid around Β£18 for a salami pizza (Β£8.99) [plus a small coke for my daughter] and a pint of draught fruit beer. Both of those were nice and service was quick - around 5 minutes from ordering the pizza was on the table. Pizza was pretty good for a pub pizza - I iked the thin crispy but chewy dough base, topping was fine - decent quality and a fair price for it. My daughter liked the vibe of the pub as it was a traditional rustic pub but clean and decorated well.
