The Cow Shed — Restaurant in Great Britain

First time visiting the Cow Shed, booking for 14 people. Table booked for 6.30. Seated to table and drink orders taken very quickly. Then approx 20-30 min wait to give food order. Food brought out, but missing 2 meals. Spoke to waiter & he went to check the kitchen. 5 mins later we were told there had been a mix up & meal orders hadn't been given to kitchen. Lots of apologies & was told manager would come over & explain. No manager came over & waiter returned to say food order now with kitchen & should be 20mins wait. They did offer us two free drinks. By the time ghd food came out,everyone else in the party had finished. Still no sign of manager. Not the best first time experience. Food isn't cheap & I would say quality was OK,but nothing to shout about. Probably won't return. Got two free drinks out of it,but would have preferred all orders to come out at the same time. Have to say waiter was very good,but not great service from manger to stay away & not explain...

Food was very tasty although they’d run out of most desserts as well as chilled bottled beer. That said, I’d go again. On the downside, the service was largely inattentive after taking the order. The server who took our order and to who we pointed out the filthy cutlery (and never brought the clean ones she promised) was replaced by a cheerful chap. But the question for me is, why don’t the owners of these restaurants train their staff? Why aren’t waiting staff up to date on the menu and ingredients? Finally, why aren’t they trained in dealing with customers properly, that is to say, when asked for something they don’t get dragged in to a long conversation with another table while doing it? Customers in this small town deserve exactly the standard of service you’d expect anywhere. It costs...

Visited with 10 friends Great welcome and nice surroundings. Great menu with choices for most. Staff were great, but service let things down. No ribs left at 7:30. Food was slow to be served with some of our group not receiving their food before others had already finished their's. Farmhouse chicken dish was awful. The chicken was overcooked and tough and don't talk about the blackberry crumble desert, inedible stodge. On the plus side, the staff were polite and addressed the issues fairly and the taco's and lasagne were perfect. A bit of improvement is definitely needed chef. Ps you need to turn off the TV's intrusive and annoying. Music only...
