The Crown — Restaurant in Great Britain

Yet another tenant has taken over the Crown. The previous couple only lasted about 12 months. The new ones have dropped doing food, but a third party company are renting the kitchen on Sundays and providing traditional roast dinner. I have not tried one yet.

The new Landlady seems pleasant enough and looks like she won't take any nonsense. She told me that Sharps Doombar is going to be the regular house beer and she twill have one other guest beer. The guest ales seem to stay on for several days at a time and Timothy Taylor Landlord keeps coming round, which isn't a bad thing. Previous Tenants have had this beer, but the pint I had today is probably the best I have tasted in the Crown over the years!

The pub is now trying to focus on being s family pub. Dogs continue to be welcome. The Crown does have a nice large garden at the back. Better than the Sun, the other pub in the village.

The pub had a bit of a makeover soon after the new tenants took over. I hope they will be successful, because it would be good to see the Crown survive and to have some stability. It doesn't have the range of real ales or offer daily food like the Sun, but it does have much lower real ale prices, a nice garden, especially good on those warm days and it does look like the new families welcome is starting to make a positive difference. My friend and I decided to play some pool at the Crown pub in Hardingstone last night 02/08/2025 we both spent around £65 each on drinks and pool games the Landlord wasn’t very polite to the both of us from when we entered but we really didn’t care about her and what she thought of us both all we wanted to do is shoot some pool she kicked us both out because I was vaping right at the door way leading to the beer garden when it wasn’t my shot when it was I would put the vape away in my pocket she was really rude to the both of us which I couldn’t really understand because my friend didn’t do anything wrong I’m definitely not a fan of that landlord a miserable old lady who really shouldn’t be running a pub with her attitude hence to say that we will not ever step foot in her pub ever again but we both will if there is a change...

Husband and I called in for Sunday lunch. We had a choice of : loin of pork, half a roast chicken or beef. I had the beef, husband had the chicken. The meat came out on steak plates, with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy. We shared a bowl of veg which consisted of fresh carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, garden peas and sugar snap peas. All cooked to perfection. The staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Food and drink prices are very reasonable.
