Had a continental breakfast here. A little overpriced at £15 per person and the waitresses started clearing the tables quickly. They only had small plates so you needed to make multiple trips up to the table. Had a lovely view outside. Despite being overpriced, the breakfast tasted lovely and fillede up for half of the day. Really loved the artwork on the walls. The toilets seemed clean but need a little touching up as the skirting boards had holes in them...but that's me being picky.

I can’t share enough goodness about this place! The location can’t be beat, the food is delicious, the rooms are clean and comfy, they have heated towel racks! Every employee we came in contact with and even those behind the kitchen doors were unexceptionally hospitable! Even to the point of keeping food warm after the kitchen was closed for half our party dealing with a flat. A short magical walk to the Eilean Donan castle just added to the stay.

Was up here on business and stayed for three nights such a warm friendly welcoming from Jenn on arrival. Admittedly this wee place is work in progress as they have not long taken over but Rome wasn’t built in a day and the work done so far has made a difference. Spotlessly clean spacious bedrooms fantastic Breakfast great views winning formula in my eyes big thanks to all the family for a lovely stay.

Very disappointing experience. After being told by the nearby pub (see my other review) to try here for dinner, we were told the earliest we could be sat was 8.30pm. So we sat near the bar at 6.30pm and quietly supped some drinks whilst we waited. The service at this point was quite poor, staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other and on their mobiles instead of serving drinks etc.

I clearly asked the barman that if a table became free before 8.30 to let us know, as we were quite hungry and he confirmed he would.

By 8pm and having witnessed several people get seated before us (at least one couple definitely didn't have a reservation) I eventually piped when a group of 4 got started before us, with no reservation with the staff agreeing to put 2 tables together.

The young lady staff member completely ignored me so I firmly said "excuse me" and enquired why people were being sat ahead of us, whilst we'd waited over 90 mins patiently.

However, she still sat them, then became extremely emotional and agitated, accusing me of "being a grown man who had shouted at a teenage girl" which, in my eyes, was irrelevant. I at no point mentioned her age or sex and was merely asking for decent customer service. She got more flustered and said that my issue was with the barman, which again makes no sense, the staff should be working and communicating together.

I sat down and tried to calmly engage her in a discussion and began to ask her how'd she feel in our situation but sadly she again interrupted me, so I asked "hang on, let me finish please" and then she threw her book down and flounced off. Extraordinary behaviour and completely unprofessional in my opinion.

By this point, my family were very upset so we just had to leave, starving hungry and hugely unimpressed with the way we were dealt with. I believe another staff member apologised to my parents as we left but I was ahead of them, so didn't hear this. This was something at least...

I won't ever be attempting to visit this place for dinner or drinks and I suggest you don't either. Shame, as the location...

Plastic in food! Terrible customer service We left the Dornie in absolut shock. This experience absolutely ruined a beautiful day.

But let’s start at the beginning. We had ordered the chowder with crusty bread and a fish platter. The chowder was ok, but the crusty bread turned out to be couple of slices of a small baguette. Since it was late in the evening we just thought they might have ran out of crusty bread and we just went with it because we were hungry after a long day hiking on the Isle of Skye. Then the fish platter arrived. It was a few different kind of fish, also ok, but nothing to write home about. We were half way through the plate when my girlfriend noticed something shiny in the salad. It was a long strip of plastic covered in the salad and dish juices. The owner came to see us, and told us they don’t know how it got there as they don’t use plastic in the kitchen. This clearly suggests that if it wasn’t them, it must be us. We were so offended. She apologised in a very blaze tone that made it clear she was not sorry but instead annoyed she was having to deal with us. She insisted they don’t use plastic, eventually changed her version to they ‘don’t use plastic for the salad’....We were absolutely exhausted from our day of hiking and now in shock and really offended by the owner. We made to wait another 10 minutes without anyone coming by our table anymore. We then just paid for the chowders, and overheard the staff talk about us in the kitchen, which was not pleasant at all. Such a disappointing and frustrating way to end, what had been up to that point, a...

We decided to order a starter each and share the fish platter, as the waitress advised us this would be adequate, and if we weren’t full, there was always deserts. After a short while the waitress returned and advised us to pick something else as the kitchen had run out of oysters and langoustines. I asked if they could do a reduced platter with the stock they do have, and then me and my partner would additionally share something else on the menu. After speaking with the kitchen she confirmed this was possible. The meals arrived and we were more than satisfied with the quality of the food.

The issue came when we were brought the bill and the fish platter was still itemised at full price (£35 no less!). I questioned this and the woman serving nipped in to the kitchen as she was not aware of what had been arranged. When she returned she said the other items had been doubled up to compensate for the missing oysters and langoustines. I accepted this and paid, but couldn’t help but feel I had the rough end of the bargain! Why were we advised to order more if the portions would be compensated? I also looked at some of the pictures on other reviews (on the other review site) and it doesn’t look as if the portions were doubled at all.

A real shame as we were looking forward to the evening but this left us feeling a...
