Been to the unicorn today for Christmas lunch, hav been here over the last 4 yrs daytime evenings.wkends & sunday lunches firstly seating was rather crammed together, soup tasteless, garlic mushrooms sauce like dishwasher, dinner I made mistake thinking beef dinner, but steak with peppercorn sauce, with veg & roast potatoes & no choice other than having it rare (Not for me ) blood running on plate thankfully swapped with Turkey dinner with friend, broccoli, sprouts, carrots even the cabbage was raw,to hard to put a fork in,thankfully peas were cooked,no pigs in blanket, gravy was shocking, too geletine to be real, turkey tough, with undercooked bacon around it, shocking one of our party asked for cranberry sauce in which we waiting 12minutes for and the person already eaten her food ,pudding yes yes lemon merine was fab (poss brought in) other pudding's wern't even allowed to pour own cream, just a tiny dropped poured for you,& lastly coffee & mince pies £1.50extra not only did they firstly want to give us the coffee off another table saying 'it's still warm' when we paid extra for our own but had small cup black coffee, with the tiniest mince pie, size of a 50p peice, but another table had full size mince pies, waitresses worked as the best they could, thankfully had a helping hand off customer to serve (Not good at all),well i could never brag the unicorn up enough, but have always been proud to go their in our groups & always had outstanding service & food, sadly I will be advising people to no longer bother going their, but please let me no If the old owners come back or the standards go back il be first to book,,I wont be calling again, till then & bad service will only end...
Read moreI would not recommend anybody using this pub restaurant. Our future son in law booked this place for a table of 6 for Mothers day (what a shambles) he paid a £30 deposit weeks ago and also confirmed the booking days ago. My wife and I drove over from Bridgend and our future in-laws from Essex. my wife and I arrived early at 1.40 pm for a 2.0 pm table for 6, we were escorted to the upstairs restaurant but the table was occupied and so had to return downstairs with very limited room(had to stand). In the meantime the rest of the party arrived.after asking for our table several more times we sat down at 2.30 and were served our starters at approx 3 pm at 4.10 pm we were still waiting for our main course that we ordered at the same time as our starters. We gave up after being told three times it would not be long. As compensation they did not charge us for a few drinks whilst waiting ,bet our future son in law lost his deposit and was charged £12 for a takeaway we insisted we did not want. From our experiences at this restaurant I hope the pub restaurant lose many future customers as a result of this mail. Just to add our daughter was heavily pregnant and there were others of the party with severe...
