Well.. Having read so many reviews on how great the food is here, being a foodie who's travelled the world eating and dining from vietnamese street food, to 5* fine dining in Hongkong, I do very much enjoy good old fashioned full on English fried breakfast..
And so today, I travelled to this establishment..
It's a very small venue with a selection of tables and a window bar seating are..
But so are most such cafe eateries.. But here if you sit near the entrance, and the wind is blowing in because people are queing, then inevitably you are eating in a cold and drafty area..
So down to the breakfast..
£10.90+£1.50( for a slice of blackpudding..)=£12.40. Without a free tea or coffee included in the price.. In many other such establishments if a large breakfast is ordered, then a free mug of tea or coffee is inclined in the price.. Unfortunately not here so that's an additional cost to your large breakfast..
The breakfast delivered it had two dried up eggs with burnt bottoms.. As if they'd been in a pan of fried eggs just ready to be scooped up, as you get in a hotel breakfast when serving yourself..
The pot of beans had more sauce than actual beans and these were Luke warm..
The sausages were soft and rubbery inside and again warm at best..
When you see some pictures of the breakfast it looks very nicely organised on the large plate.. My larger offering was tumped up on a small blue plate..
For the money I paid, this was not as I expected after reading all these marvellous reviews and see in various pictures that have been posted..
Was this a one off and not actually as is normal...?
Well, as with any eatery or other hospitality venue , you get one opportunity to do it right or as with me, it was very dissapointing and in my opinion not value for money paid..
This is my review of my personal experience of eating at this establishment..
Staff were friendly and polite..
So before the owner asks why didn't I say anything at the time?
Well, here's a small but important point that I can add..
Usually, when eating in any establishment or indeed on the streets, the staff or owner, have always just asked if everything is OK, can I get you anything else, etc etc..
Staff were just too busy taking orders...
Read moreturned up on a Saturday lunchtime And only 4 people inside and 3 outside there were 3 staff just stood there doing nothing, asked where toilet was and told we would have to go to morrisons as theres wasn't working ...morrisons is a good half a mile away lol..floors and walls greasy and dirty with food waste under tables [yuk] ordered the buttermilk club sandwich x2 with 1 fries and 1 onion rings ...sandwich was cut in half chicken and bacon dry and so overcooked had a job to chew it couldn't beleive it when I proceeded to eat second half of sandwich there was no bloody chicken in it just a small peice of cremated bacon and cheese ..really .. .onion rings were also so overcooked they weren't edible fries were surprising not bad we also had 1 tea and 1 coke and all this loveliness for £30 ....not a pleasant experience at all could have bought 2 x McDonald's meals or 2 for 1 meal deal at brewers fayre which would have been like fine dinning compared to this muck for half the price...
Read moreOn November 28, 2022, we popped in for a quick breakfast before attending a midday funeral in Llantarnam but immediately realized nothing would be "quick". We could have gone somewhere else, but a glance at the intriguing and ambitious menu made us want to stay. The staff were clearly still adapting to the combination of high demand in a very small space, but the food and drink were well worth waiting for. Excellent fresh-squeezed orange juice from their "on demand" juicing machine started my meal and the Benedicts and full Welsh breakfast were great, as were the coffee and tea. Everything we ordered didn't arrive (probably just as well as as I ordered when very hungry) but what did was reach us was delicious. I was impressed by the quality of the food and friendliness of the service. The packaged condiments were a bit of a pain, but I will certainly return for brunch when I'm...
