I recently visited the Turkish Baths in Harrogate and had an enjoyable visit. It’s steeped in history, opening back in 1897, and it remains relatively unchanged to this day. After checking in with the reception team, we were given towels and then got changed. You are given lockers to store your belongings, but there was a frustrating amount of broken lockers that did make storing your belongings more inconvenient than it should have been. The main experience focuses around 3 rooms that increase in heat intensity. The first being mild, then the following 2 becoming much warmer. After you spend the time in the hot rooms, you’re then cool yourself in the plunge pool or with a cold shower. I did enjoy spending an hour, going through the different levels of heat and then cooling down in the plunge pool. It’s certainly a shock to the system with the sudden cold of the pool, but I genuinely left feeling very relaxed. There was also an aromatherapy steam room which was nice too. Overall, I did enjoy my visit, and I did find it relaxing. It was also fascinating from a historical aspect too. However, I feel for the price that’s being charged, there were a few maintenance issues that need to be remedied such as broken lockers, showers and a few areas needed repainting. I felt that it was a premium price being charged, and it did fall a little below my expectations due to these reasons.

This place was amazing. We went mid week and it cost £19 for a mixed session. They do make or female sessions also on different days and times. The website will tell you all the details. We arrived 15 min early and waited in the reception / cafe area. So if you want a drink or a snack you can buy them here. We were then met by a member of staff called Bob. Who took us in and explained everything to us about the venue and how to make best use of the spa. He was amazingly funny and knew so much about the history of the place. They provide you with a towel and have hairdryers there also. You will need slippers and swimwear and I would take a water bottle which you can refil inside. It felt amazing in the spa and with my bad back it made me feel better after attending. As have been stuck at home for a couple of months waiting for surgery. So this was a treat for me and the wife and I loved it. I would recommend a visit here if you come to Harrogate but would pre-book online as it sells out quickly. The only feedback I would give to the venue. Is that in the first room you enter the relaxation room. As you look at the ceiling there is a lot of dust on the window opening ropes and the wooden fixtures on the ceiling. So could do with a bit of dusting. As not pleasent to see whilst lying down on the beds. Appreciate it's not easy to get up that high.

I booked a treatment here with great enthusiasm and expectations. Having explained to the gentleman on the phone of what I was hoping from the treatment. He assured me that was how it would be. He also explained that it didn't matter which treatment I had first as i had till 8.30pm for both treatments. I was greeted on arrival but then just left. I had no idea where to go or what to do. I asked several times and was told someone would come out to me. I had been told at the time of booking that I would be shown around before treatment. I was becoming a little frustrated and anxious. A young lady then came to me. Without any explanation or without showing me around lead me to the treatment area. I was confused and asked questions which she couldn't answer. The treatment area was cold and drafty. I was undressed and being washed in a cold and drafty area. She then told me it's because the window was open. I then looked up and I was directly under the air-conditioning. After the treatment she just said that was it. I asked her what should I do now she told me I could go back into the bath. I was very cold and anxious and needed warming up. I walked down the stairs looking for the ',bath' I hadn't been shown where it was or what it looked like. There were some ladies in what looked like a bath which turned out to be a pool. A cold pool. Which I couldn't use as I was already cold. I wondered around cold wanting to cry. I saw someone walk into a room so followed them. The room was hot so I sat there for a while hoping to warm up. I walked to a warmer area sat for a while until I felt warmer. About 10 minutes. I anxiously got dressed wanting to cry because I still felt cold and terrible with what I had experienced. As I walked out the lady who had given me treatment saw me and not even a smile. I felt foolish and wanted to cry. I walked to reception telling the what turned out to be the assistant manager, that I just wanted to cry. No empathy or acknowledgement. She already had her perspective and like a matron talked down at me. No training in customer care. She said they were going to refund the treatment as she had been made aware that it wasn't what I expected. But no full refund as I had used the baths. Totally disgusted. I traveled from Bradford and paid to be dropped off...

WOW.. From start to finish my experience here was amazing, the staff absolutely impeccable, we made our booking with Jackie on reception, who couldn't have done anymore for me, she went above and beyond, what an amazing lady, Elouise was lovely too, she rebooked us in as we returned and changed the day, reception staff professional in every way.. What you need when entering a business is first class assistance and this certainly was world class.. The spa ladies in particularly Wendy, wow again, she was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, her personality was superb, her experience and knowledge made our experience so much more. There were other ladies working in different areas and all gave a smile to acknowledge me. I write this review with immense thanks to each and everyone in the Turkish Baths Harrogate they all made my experience truly amazing, you see I am a wheelchair user and this place was something I wanted to just try and do what I could do, I wanted to experience it, and it was so much more than I even imagined I could do. I ACTUALLY DID IT ALL..!!! This experience I shall never forget, I even shed a little tear of happiness that I actually did this experience, I was paralysed 8 years ago and never in a million years thought I would be able to do these things, I proved myself wrong, and did it.!! 😊 this will NOT be the only time I come here, this is now going to be my absolute special place and I will be returning as often as I can.. From the bottom of my heart ❤️ I sincerely thank everyone for my experience, and wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone, be it disabled or able bodied. If you think you can't do it, just try it, you'll be so glad you did, as it'll be an experience you'll never forget.. Fantastic value for money at just £27 for a 1.5-2 hour session.. Next time, I'm going for the soapy body scrub as well.. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and everyone of you at Turkish baths Harrogate, for making this a dream...

This is my first time going to a Victorian Turkish Bath house (Some people miss the point of this being Victorian and not authentic Turkish!!), the place is lovely, and well decorated. For the basic experience it cost £27 each to enter the heat rooms and relax.

I liked the fact mobile phones and other technology aren't allowed to be used and must be left in your locker. In an age where so called "Influencers" are in every location or people are watching loud videos on their phones it was good to be able to switch off and not worry about being body shamed online!

The baths consist of small changing rooms with a door curtain, you change and then enter the baths with lockers halfway down the first room, the electronic locks are easy to use with instructions on the wall behind you. Once everything is secure you are free to use the baths in any order you like.

The main room is a slightly warm relaxation area with long padded wooden benches to lay on, with a plunge pool at the end and a door into the heated rooms (Or you can walk past the plunge pool to the showers)

The main idea is you shower in the communal shower area, then enter the coolest hot room, once you feel ready you shower again and then enter the plunge pool to cool down, before entering the second hottest room, shower, plunge and into the hottest room which while we were there was a 70 degrees centigrade, shower, plunge and repeat the cycle. You only go into the rooms you feel comfortable in and can cycle through any in any order or just miss out the hottest.

There is a steam room which was very hot and had Eucalyptus oil in the steam.

You get 2 hours for your session in the baths and I came out feeling relaxed and my skin feels softer even a day later.

I was in a mixed session but there are single sex options, and yes people take and due to the size and shape of the rooms there is an echo but it was still relaxing and not at all crowded when...
