Opening day for any establishment tends to be chaotic and stressful, but when I happened to walk by and see the front door open I just couldn't resist. And I'm glad I didn't! The service was warm and welcoming, and the staff were very efficient. Benn was engaging, even while he worked a mile a minute.

The food was absolutely fantastic. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen and karaage donburi and enjoyed every bite. The portion sizes are very generous. I ate some of mine in the shop and had some left over to eat later in the day.

The best part is the open kitchen. My toddler could have stayed there and watched them work all day! If this is what opening day looks like, I imagine it's only going to get better from here. We can't...

Our first visit to Umami and we were not disappointed. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. Imagine freshly made noodles and chicken that actually tastes like chicken! The friendly staff are happy to explain all the ingredients, how spicy or not , portion sizes etc which is a big help when you are unfamiliar with the cuisine.
