Had lunch at this place with my family. Prices are far too expensive for the quality you get. I had ham, eggs and chips (I never order this dish but was hoping in a simple hearty plate of food) and it was literally 3 very thin slices of ham, which had no flavour, and 2 small barely fried eggs. The rest was oven chips, barely warm. This whole dish costs them less than 1 pound. For 12 pounds I would expect something more. In addittion I was bloated for the rest of the day, so something was not right with the food. My wife had the soup of the day which was just peas, courgettes and lots (far too much) of dry mint. The butter she got for her bread was off. Soup also massively overpriced. Coffee cake tasted ok but the sponge was far too sugary, the buttercream even more. Coffee and tea were very bad quality too. Very frustrating. This place charges high end farm shop cafe's prices but serves food which is worse than a dodgy greasy spoon. I genuinely don't understand the positive reviews. Like in many other places in Buckinghamshire, you pay London prices but get substandard food and people seem to love it! Next time we will bring...
Read moreThe facilities are fantastic, clean, organised and very well setup within regards to the COVID-19 measures.
Drinks are varied and acceptable price and quality.
However the food is poor. This is a nicety.
I got a chicken burger that was £5.95. it was lukewarm at best. The quality of the ingredients were the cheapest available, minced breaded chicken burger, not big enough to fill the bun (£0.80 at best), bun (£0.14), a chunk of tomato cut with a teaspoon. Luck if it cost more than £1.20. If paying more than this to make, then there is a fundamental lack of effort. So a huge mark up!
Chips so cold the cheese didn't melt on them.
The children's pack lunches where awful, poor sandwiches wrapped in a piece of cling film with only one side of the bread buttered, a poor effort for £5.
It is a beautiful cafe, loads of space, no competition, in a perfect location and it is producing such poor quality, over priced food! The hospitality industry is on its knees begging to open and one of those can open are producing this awful offer.
Pack lunch next...
Read moreI wasn't sure whether I should be putting a bad review on here or calling the police. Stopped here in the middle of a long bike ride. A very basic white bread ham sandwich, a small bottle of lucozade, small pepsi, a packet of crisps & an americano. £15!! outrageous. The only reason I opted for the basic sandwich was the kitchen was closed at 3pm. When I rode up the hill towards the cafe and saw the HUGE sign saying "we are open to 5pm" I felt relief that I'd get some food. At 4pm, while eating my 1970's style train sandwich, staff were putting chairs on top of tables around me. God help anyone turning up at 4:30 and expecting to be served! What saddened me most was the building is nice, in a lovely area and with lots of kids playing in the playparks nearby. but when you charge £2.25 for an F'ing fruit shoot bottle then you should be charged with robbery. How can you expect a family to come to a cafe in the park and pay such obviously marked up prices? I'll definitely never be bringing my kids here, I already have 1 mortgage I don't...
