Cook's Fish & Chip Shop — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Less than 1 star if I could. Really should of read the reviews. While staying at haven we fancied fish and chips, went to cooks as it opened. Took about 25 mins to get my food and took it back to eat. Well... it was absolutely rancid!! The fish was mostly batter and tasted awful, fish cake burnt to a inch of its life. Fish bites where absolutely tasteless and don't get me started on chips... it's a seaside area for God sakes how are you gonna try and palm this crap off as food. Icing on the cake was the fact me, the wife and little one all felt sick after eating a small amount of it and ruined our evening. The only thing that got full up that evening was bin and toilets. DONT EAT HERE!!! There's a reason the reviews are so bad. there's a good fish and chip shop across the road from the haven that's highly rated with good food. I'm gonna say the staff seemed nice, but that really doesn't cut it. Be nice all you want but your serving rubbish and making...

Was empty when we arrived, still took 31minutes for our food to be ready. Several others came in and ordered and were served before us. Asked after 20 mins, it appeared our ticket had fallen off, given the old 'waiting on chips' line. Jordan the server had a dreadful attitude from the start, she clearly didn't want to be there, understandable as it was very hot that day, but still, manners cost nothing. The fish was quite nice but the chips were only average. But for the £28 I paid for 2 cod and chips I was seriously unimpressed. I get that it's on a Haven site, but seriously, don't waste your money. Have included a pic so you can see what a £14 portion looks like. Ordered fish and chips, kids chicken nuggets, was in the evening last Thursday. We had a meal T lunchtime it was reasonable - nothing fantastic. The problem with the evening meal was:-

1. Fish batter was too thick.
2. Quality of fish was poor, too thin.
3. curry was just brown water, no curry sauce at all. THE WORST WAS THE SERVICE - THE GUY HAD PUT THE FISH AND CHIPS IN THE BOXES THEN WENT INTI THE BACK FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO PREPARE THE CURRY SAUCE AND THE MUSHY PEAS - HE SAID SORRY FOR THE WAIT HE HAD TO GET THE MUSHY PEAS FROM THD FRIDGE. EVERYONE WAS WAITING, THE OWNERS SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THEM.

The Chinese was much better (Chopstix) near the lake we’ll be sticking to them next time. Their food was cooked fresh and served...
