For me I would not come here again over the years all I've heard about is how great this place is and the best roast dinners are here.... Sorry but this for me definitely no I've had much better food at other places for me this was kind of wetherspoons level of food and frozen, cheap grub. I had the beef burger meal I'm a big fan of beef burgers when i go out and this beef burger had no flavour at all was like a proper cheap tasteless beef burger hardly any chips and was quite cold the black currant soda water we had was way over priced for what it is £2.50 a pint of soda water with black currant not worth all that didn't bother bother with dessert after having the meal here most of the staff didn't even smile and no one asked if everything was OK like at normal places I've been too. My mum had the roast dinner carvery the beef meat was chewy, the turkey meat she said was the only decent bit of meat. The toast potatoes was cheap frozen ones with horrible packet mash that was hard gravy watery and the Yorkshire pudding over cooked too hard the veg again was not great either. This was for a birthday meal so disappointed with how the food was after hearing lots of good things about it. If you like bland food with no flavour an do mean no flavour... and cheap and frozen like wetherspoons style this is the place for you. Will not return

I just love this place. Last time I visited was over 6 years ago. This week I have been twice already as I am staying locally. I can say out of all the carverys I have tried, this is the best!! The staff are friendly and very helpful. The resturant is very big and clean, you can also sit at the front outside.Their is a childrens play area outside. Castle carvery now has a children's soft play area located inside at a cost of only £3.50 per child. On both occasions the meat has been very tender & fresh. There is a wide range of vegetables, aswell as meat, cauliflower cheese,Stuffing, big yorkshires, roast potatoes ,mash aswell as vegetarian options . Every item on the carvery deck just tastes divine. The gravy is lush! One of my children has allergies, the member of staff i spoke to about this was very knowledgeable about what my son could have and double checked with the chef. There were 4 of us eating ,we all enjoyed our food so much and the bonus was the kids could run around in the soft play too! Plenty of parking available.

What can I say this place is five stars all round. My husband and I both had the carvery. I had one course for £10.95 and my husband had two course for £14.95. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection. I had turkey it was tasty and juicy (not dry like some turkey can be) there was so many vegetables to choose from. My husband had apple and blackberry crumble with custard, he said it was lovely. Parking is plentiful and close to the entrance. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and you can eat in there too. There is a large outside play area for children. Service was quick and efficient and all the staff were friendly even the young lady who advised us that we were sat in the wrong area in the restaurant with our little dog. We apologised and moved. Thankyou for a lovely relaxed meal.

Castle Carvery Caister-on-Sea is a place that genuinely stands out for its inviting atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding service. It’s one of those places where you can just relax, have a good meal, and feel right at home. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm and welcoming team who clearly care about making your experience special. The interior feels cosy and charming yet still spacious enough to accommodate families, couples, or larger groups comfortably. The staff ensured we were looked after from start to finish, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The carvery is definitely the highlight here. You’ll find an amazing selection of perfectly cooked meats, fresh vegetables, and all the extras you’d expect. The thoughtfulness behind the menu really shines too, with options that cater to various dietary needs, so everyone can leave happy and full. One thing that makes Castle Carvery extra special is how family-friendly it is. There’s a great indoor play area for the kids and an outdoor space that’s well-kept and safe. It’s a win-win for parents and little ones alike—you get to enjoy your meal while the kids have fun. Honestly, it’s hard to find a place that gets it so right for families. And let’s talk about the value. The prices are fair, especially considering the quality and portions you get. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re getting more than your money’s worth, which definitely adds to the experience. A big shoutout goes to Brad, the General Manager, whose hard work and dedication really shine through. Brad and his team go above and beyond to make every guest feel valued. He often takes the time to personally greet guests, which adds such a nice, personal touch to the visit. It’s clear he’s passionate about running a great restaurant, and that care is reflected in every aspect of the place. Of course, I can’t leave out the desserts. They’re the perfect way to round off a great meal. Whether you have a sweet tooth or prefer something light and fruity, you’ll find something to enjoy here. To sum it up, Castle Carvery Caister-on-Sea isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a proper community spot where excellent food, great service, and a welcoming vibe all come together. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’re bound to have a lovely time. Brad and the team deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve built here. Honestly, if you’re in the area, don’t...

After visiting a few times in the past, I am not sure we will be returning unfortunately. Visited again today and whilst the food was good, the presence of many flies around the carvery food, often landing on it too, was very off putting. After our meal, our children wanted to play in the soft play and despite spending in excess of £120 on food and drink, they wanted £3.50 per child for them to play. We didn't even have chance to pay or even finish speaking with the staff member before our young children who had already run into the ball pit to play had come back out in tears. In the panic from their reaction we assumed they had hurt themselves but no, another child had pooed in the play area and our children had just unknowingly gone straight in it (they are only 2 years old) and it was all over their hands and clothes. We immediately took them out to get them cleaned and this was all in front of the staff member who we hadn't finished speaking to earlier. She proceeded to grab a small tissue to go and search for the poo but the remaining children were free to play with nothing being said to the adults sat supervising. After about 10 mins of cleaning and changing our children, we noticed the play area was still full of children running around and the staff member was still taking money from new parents who had just arrived. We went and spoke with the manager of the pub to inform them of this and that we didn't think this was adequately dealt with (simply picking it up with tissue with no disinfectant and no real inspection to check there wasn't anymore anywhere else as kids were already everywhere). She said she would sort and a after a few minutes we did see the staff member walk past rather unhappy with some soapy water. We still do not believe this was the correct procedure as surely the play area should have been evacuated, inspected and cleaned with disinfectant rather than allowing children to just keep playing. So with this experience, topped with the amount of flies around the carvery food sat there, we are now questioning their hygiene levels. Very disappointing as this is normally a restaurant we would always visit on our holidays (we went twice...

The carvery is always delicious with lots of veg constantly refilled. There is always a choice of pie or several tender meats. The choice of desserts are perfect for my sweet tooth. There is plenty of parking and a play area for children. Prices are very good which explains why the place is always packed.

On arrival at busy times, they take your mobile number and call you as a table becomes free which is nice so we can have a drink at the bar while waiting for the call.

I think the Caister Castle's popularity speaks volumes about how good the food, prices and atmosphere. But I will try to add to that. The cleanliness is perfect, the place is always a very comfortable temperature, the food is red hot and fresh (because it constantly gets replenished to meet the demand). The Carvery price is cheap for such generous portions especially when you consider the quality of the food. I do not know how but the beef is always cooked so I can have some lovely pink/ red while my wife has it more medium. The turkey is always moist, the gammon, lamb, pork (whichever is on the menu that day) are always cooked perfectly.

Veg is always piping hot, roast potatoes have a satisfying crisp outside and fluffy inside, with creamy smooth buttery mash and new potatoes on offer, everyone can have their pick. The rest of the veg is always firm and moist and full of flavour, sweet carrots, roast parsnips and varying others that may change due to the season.

Gravy, the gravy is thick, rich and meaty, just as gravy should be made, I could happily have a bowl of this and a few slices of thick bread and be very happy.

Always my number one go to place whenever I...
