The King's New Clothes !!!
We went here on my wife's birthday with my mother in law on the 19/04/2017 for what was meant to be a highly enjoyable meal after waiting a long time to "get in", having read other reports I thought this was going to be right up there !! Now we have eaten food from around the globe and I can honestly say I don't know how this restaurant warrant's it high status, I will start on the food the rib's were OK but VFM NO. My starter Taramasalata was OK but hardly inspiring, for the mains we had Sea-Bass that's was OK, a Steak that was tasteless and overpriced and a Barnsley lamp chop - I truly love lamb God knows what happened to this !! - I then had a cheesecake type desert, wish I hadn't because it was far to "stodgy" - wine OK but very limited in choice. My biggest bugbear would have to be the wind every time someone opened a door (but I guess it is a shed) the actual cost, quality & ambience - I don't really care how much I pay for decent food & drink but it should be VFM at over £108 this restaurant meets none of my prerequisite's for a good evening out. We to also would not return to this restaurant especially after reading the fairly condescending answer to "another" customer that visited the same evening as us !! Was it a case of a bad night at the office - or - The...
Read moreWe have visited the fish restaurant side of The Shed during two previous holidays but this time we decided to give the Tapas restaurant a go. We were served by the absolutely delightful Jess Grace who looked after us throughout the visit. The food was wonderful! We started with a portion of taramasalata and were so pleased that we didn’t fill up on this dip. We had the ‘ little fishes’, beef stifado, meatballs and a chicken skewer dish from the ‘Specials’ menu. (We also had the Patatos bravas but, tasty as this dish was, there was no way that we could eat very much of it!) The beef stifado took my husband back to a Greek island holiday from 40years ago it was so good. My favourite were the beef and pork meatballs and I even asked Jess to ask the Chef what herbs were used. (Chef’s secret). All the dishes tasted so fresh and were full of flavour. The Shed is an absolute Gorleston Gem and we wish the owners every success. PS….Message for Jess Grace….we hope the GCSE results are fabulous and that you achieve all that...
Read moreWe had a lovely meal at the shed in gorleston, the ribs are to die for! Humous and flatbread had a lot of flavour. Me and my wife both had rump steaks for main, a tiny bit over cooked compared to what we asked for so a little bit chewy but still full of flavour so i didn’t feel the need to complain. Amazing chips and onion ring’s on the side. We shared a baked vanilla cheesecake for dessert, got to be one of the best i’ve had. Very good service, the restaurant is small but we liked this. I will definitely be getting the ribs as a main next time! Quite expensive prices but this is reflected in the quality of the food. Overall was amazing food and service but sadly only 4 stars as steaks were over cooked slightly. We will be returning for my birthday in a...
