My wife, child and I went had dinner at Rajdoot. We came back rather disappointed and here's the verdict:
The food was, on the whole mediocre. We ordered: -- Tandoori Mixed Grill (which was good) -- Special Mixed Biriani (which was not good, basmati rice did not leave an impression, tasted like overnight food and veg curry that came together was so so) -- Pratha bread tasted like it came out of a pack and made very badly. My wife said that she could have bought it from the supermarket and made it better herself! -- One good point: Lassi was tasty!
The worst thing was that the service was indifferent -- it felt like they were rushing to get us out of the door and did not even bother with any pleasantries (how are you, thank you's, etc.) The restaurant was not even that busy as the waitering staff had time on their hands, chatting and walking around.
Summary: I have eaten at other Indian joints and in the bigger scheme of things, Rajdoot's food only ranks mediocre but if you take into account the lack of service, the overall dining experience is below average. There are other Indians around the area...
Read moreUPDATE: Following a not ideal first experience here the management went above and beyond to fix it. They contacted me following my review and offered to provide our entire order again free of charge. We arranged to take them up on this recently and the replacement food was phenomenal! Everyone has an off day sometimes and we clearly caught them on one of those days but the way they went about fixing it is 10/10 and they've created some long term customers out of us. Look forward to returning in the near future.
Unfortunate experience trying the restaurant for the first time. Ordered based off the positive reviews, service on collection was really friendly and prompt. Once getting home I noticed we had one curry missing and a side dish was incorrect, being a 15 minute drive from the restaurant it wasn't practical to go back and change. The one curry we had left was quite bland despite being marked as 'touch hot'. The restaurant was very busy so maybe we just caught them on a bad day but having spent £50 for 2 people we were left...
Read moreWhat can I say! I am a journalist / food blogger for a very popular food magazine and the Rajdoot was highly recommend to us. Me and a Bangladeshi freind arrived later in the evening and sat down and ordered our starters straight away. We were pleasantly surprised by the quick and responsive service so promptly orderded our main courses, me suggesting my Lamb Jalffrazzi would be extra extra HOT because I love the spice... how wrong we were and could quite clearly hear members off the staff say that I as an Enlgishman was, as I quote, 'A greedy dog' because I jokenly suggested the meal could have been spicyer... a word of advice to anybody thinking of eating in the Rajdoot, make sure you go with a Freind that speaks fluent Bangali because the staff are very very offensive and feel they can justify this by speaking in a dilect that being English we do not understand... A very very bad restaurant!! I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody and we will never...
