Wow where to start. Came here to celebrate my birthday today and could tell it was doomed from the start. My friend carrying her 6 week old daughter tripped down a step which wasn't sign posted with warnings etc and injuring her knees in the process! My girlfriend booked the night before for us and up to 14 guests to join me in celebrating but when asking at the bar, they thought we booked it for the night before (the GM came out later to apologise for the mix up). On to the shambolic food service. I am a patient person so I was happy to wait for my food. However when my order came out completely wrong, I took it back to get it changed.had to wait 45 mins for the replacement which was still wrong but by this time I was starving I just ate it. Upon inspection, the cheese I didn't ask for was kindly scraped off the bun but the flaw was there was some left on the bun so they couldn't even be arsed to give fresh ingredients! I really am not one to moan however I feel this was one for exception consideringconsidering I have eaten at this same place 3 times before and had delicious food each time. Not sure I'll be back...
Read moreExcellent little pub with an expansive garden and cedar tree. Several real ales including Doombar also Guinness on tap. Food is excellent! I recently took 14 family members, from 18 months to 81 years there for lunch on a Sunday; they did warn that,as kitchen was small, food arrival might be staggered, but in fact no one had to wait for either starter or main. Only possible improvement would be the addition of a pool table, but not sure there is room for that. Top tip: try the breaded butterflies prawns with sweet chilling dipping sauce ---I have had them many times each time cooked to perfection, succulent and juicy, something often not achieved in much more expensive restaurants. Staff always friendly and attentive, usually remembering you on your second visit. Just don't get so popular that I can't squeeze in, it's...
Read moreArrived on my mobility scooter a bit before my wife who was walking. While sitting outside waiting the landlord brought me a glass of water which was greatly appreciated. Not my favourite type of pub with big screens and muzak, but it's well furnished and you can get away from the telly if you choose. Pleasantly surprised to find four real ales, GK Abbot, St. Austell Tribute, Hogs Back Surrey Nirvana and Surrey Hills Ranmore. The Ranmore was on very good form. Menu was short but reasonably priced. Scampi, lasagne, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, jacket potatoes and sandwiches. My lasagne was very nice and my wife's bbq chicken pizza was enormous. She couldn't get through it without assistance so I can attest that it was also delicious. Overall a pleasant surprise. We...
