4 stars for the room ONLY.
5 stars to the staff and the restaurant.
Start with the positives, the Staff there are lovely, every single one of them strive to provide the best service they can and ensure everyones needs are catered for, i'd give more stars if i could. Compliments to the Chefs too, everything cooked perfectly.
I usually stay in premier inns so you can imagine my expectations of hotels are relatively average, this i would consider much more upmarket but worth the price? - if they provided air conditioning then yes perhaps but i hear there are complications due to the age of the building which is understandable.
Onto the room: i like cool, airy places, and this place is a bit towards the opposite. They have a mini fridge in a cupboard which is a nice touch, but because they're not vented effectively, hot humid air pours into your room. The windows only open 4 inches at most, so its difficult to keep cool. They provide a fan, which again, lovely touch.. but the noise wakes me up much earlier than usual but for me was a must. (we're talking outdoor evening temperatures ranging between 8 - 15C while i stayed, i dont like to think what its like in a heatwave but it wasn't too bad on the lower scale)
Strangely, you get a 3ft sink, so you could put a pillow in it and it'd sleep a small child. You also get small cups and saucers that barely even hold half a normal mug of coffee, feels like i'm playing with a little girls tea set. - those are my only curioisities, i'm used to a starbucks large and normal sinks 😂
The rooms are beautfully decorated, exceptionally clean, and the bathrooms are nice too, big spacious showers and well designed. Air freshners are a nice touch, and the beds are super comfortable to lay on.
The staff there have really made it a great experience overall though, and why i go back, they make you feel like you're at...
Read moreNice food, poor customer service. Reserved a table for 2 just after midday. Arrived a few minutes late and was told that I had choice of 2 tables, 1 of which had just become available. Both tables were tucked away squeezed into corners, but that's cosy right? Went to order food to be told that the menu advertised on the website isn't available in Novemner and December as they start to get busy for Christmas so stop their deals. No big problem, we ordered a main with a view to order a dessert later. The mains came and they were good value for money and very tasty, the waitress asked if we would like a dessert menu to which we replied yes and she promptly brought us one. At this point most of the tables had emptied and there weren't many people left eating. 35 minutes later she returned to ask if we would like to order a dessert which we declined as had other plans arranged. This drew a huff from the waitress who seemed genuinely annoyed that we had declined and asked for the bill instead. Overall a very disappointing experience that I don't plan...
Read moreBoxing Day lunch for 5 of us. I was the only one to have a starter. Prawn cocktail.....hmmm they put a hot tasting condiment on it which I did not appreciate. We then waited the best part of an hour for the main course!! I also had a hot chocolate which was fine. I ordered roast pork ,potatoes and vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were again fine infact good BUT the so called pork consisted of thin dry overcooked round slices ,no fat, which would have made good beer mats.Dreadful!! Someone else in our group had fish cakes which had far too much dil in them and also were dry and very poor. Also when I asked for another knife and fork because one was dirty I received no apology from the woman. The young girl who served us was very pleasant and cheerie but quite inexperienced. This place is certainly not cheap but overall poor. If I had been on my own I would have sent the so called pork back. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY There are way better places to dine!! Needless to say none of us...
