Aksular Restaurant — Restaurant in Hertsmere

Second time that we had a terrible experience.. hence leaving a review as its not right.. the last time I thought.. sometimes things happen.. mistakes happen (burnt food) this time it was just not okay... Bread came it was stale and hard... politely asked for it to be replaced.. man started shouting in Turkish.. which he didn't realise I understand.. 'tell them if they don't want to eat it.. we don't have any bread. Tell them to go away'.. i said nothing...then our food came.. my lamb.. the smell of off meat followed. I tasted it.. one bite i literally spate it out... I asked the lady the meat is off... smell it.. she said its lamb that's what it smells like.. I was like.. I know what meat smells like this is off.. taste it pls...this time she didn't argue and smiled (first smile of the experience).. I feel like she knew it was bad from her reaction of simply taking it away with a smile.. the chef also didn't have much to say which surprised me and made sense coz they couldn't say much.. it was cleary off.. by this point I just wanted to leave but with small kids, felt impossible as they still had there starters. I didn't eat.. just waited for them to finish.. no sorry no let me replace it.. nothing.. I asked for the bill.. for our drinks and starters.. then left to have to go the the drive through so the kids could eat.. the whole experience was just cringe worthy.. I'm not one to complain but it was impossible to get past.. Will not be returning.. when it first opened it was so nice.. now £25 for off meat and...

I've been a customer of Aksular for quit a while, they've changed their shop floor management recently, and introduced a new face.

I've invited one of my friends to the restaurant, and asked for a meal for each one of us and for a wrap as takeaway for my wife. As I asked for the bill, I was surprised that the wrap was 30% more expensive than either of our sit down meals. I've always bought their takeaway wraps at £6, which is the price still stated at just eat and their website, I was shocked to find out that I was billed £9.5 for a wrap sandwich ??? I tried to explain to the manager that they made a mistake, but he wouldn't listen, became upset that I asked, and told me nothing could be done. I didn't want to make a scene, as I had invited a friend for dinner, so I paid and off I went.

Suffice to say that I have invited lots of family and friends over the past two years to this restaurant, and paid at least £1000 on meals at Aksular. Never again, you should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to fleece your regular customers, really...

Very bright ceiling lights, the front door slams shut noisily when you enter making everyone turn to look at you, also sends a cold blast of air straight into restaurant whenever someone enters or leaves. Cramped, uncomfortable seating, not very nice toilets (dirty & in need of refurbishing) Our reserved table wasn’t ready for us. Staff seemed a bit unhappy and we had to constantly get their attention to ask for menu’s drinks, bill etc. They didn’t ask once if our food was ok, luckily it was. Bit odd when an old guy came in and the staff couldn’t do enough for him, we would have liked some service like that. A portion of chips weren’t brought out with our mains and I only noticed after paying by card, told waiter but just got a shrug & no apology or attempt to refund me, there’s your tip then! Shame as food was very nice, even doner kebab seemed home made and very meaty.

We’ll probably go back to the wood oven in high...
