Pumpernick's Bagel Bakery — Restaurant in Hertsmere

A couple of weeks ago, I entered these premises and met a lovely lady called Jenny. So I introduced myself and purchased some items. I returned yesterday and the place was buzzing. Nick the owner is a man who is the most natural business owner, proud of his bakery, items for sale, lovely staff and a wicked sense of humour. I felt welcome so we had a quick chats in between sales about future events and their catering service. I met the Rabbi and some happy children. Sometimes it’s better to focus on what you do best – in this case, bagels. The hollandaise sauce wasn’t even close to what it’s supposed to be: it was clumpy and watery simultaneously. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, and every five minutes we were updated that they ran out of something. In the end, they also said their coffee machine broke. In my experience, you always get started on the drinks, so maybe if the staff was actually interested in delivering the service, we would’ve been lucky to get our coffees before it broke (20 minutes after our order was taken). I always get my challas from here as they are the absolute best. I called the night before my my mother in Law's funeral to see if they could cater, and Nick and the team were incredible. Not only did they prepare, deliver and lay out the most freshest, beautifully presented, delicious platters of bridge rolls, Danish, cakes and biscuits, but they went over and above to make sure the process was easy for us at this sad time.
