Went for a spur of the moment walk with the family round the resivors and needed find a pub that serves food as ive four children pulling their faces about being hungry. stepping through the door i knew i was onto something special, this place has bags of character charm and and that homely atmosphere you just dont get with pubs anymore.

Now onto the food. there's a great selection of food i have a veggie son and hes a cheese and onion pie connoisseur he said and i quote "thats the best cheese and onion pie ive ever had" i managed to get the last steak and ale pie as they sell out fast, and it was amazing, thick chunky cuts of steak gorgeous pastry with thick cut chips peas and lashings of gravy, heaven. my missus and other son had the lamb madras i had a taste and if she had moved away from the table i would have eaten the lot. my other two children had childrens shepards pie and peas and a nuggets chips and beans, not a morsel was left and they wolfed it down.

I'd highly recommend a visit and im definitely...

My son booked us in to this place for a birthday meal on Sunday. The guy (possibly the owner) seated us at our table and gave us 2 menu's between the 6 of us (not ideal)

He approached us about 10 mins later stating that he was going to wait before taking our food order as his wife was very busy in the kitchen, not ideal but we were'nt in any hurry.

I then asked if we could order some drinks while we waited to which he replied ' yes, you just order from the bar, you're not a cripple are you??' he obviously thought this remark was hilarious as he was laughing about it but I was absolutely astounded by his comment as were the rest of my family. It made us all very uncomfortable.

We promtly got up and left and went somewhere else to eat. I can't believe that some one in the service industry would speak to a customer in that manner.

Should be zero stars and if this guy is an employee he should be dismissed for talking to people that way.

Absolutely...

I called in the Bull's Head with my wife, and two daughters aged 22 and 14 yrs old, on a trip over to Manchester. What an excellent decision that was. The Bull's Head is a proper old fashioned pub, and we all loved it. The pub is full of character and lovely open fires were burning away, warming us all up on a cold wintry night. I ordered the shepherd's pie, which was made with High peak lamb slow cooked in a rich sauce topped with mash sprinkled with cheese served with peas, it was delicious. My wife and eldest daughter had the steak and ale pie. It was a short crust pastry pie filled with slow cooked lean steak in a rich gravy served with chips, peas and gravy, again both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Lastly, my youngest daughter had the halloumi burger, and the fact nothing was left over tells you everything. If the opportunity arises to call in again in the future, I will definitely do so. Thanks for a...

Entering this pub is such a time warp as it is the quintessential traditional pub - it's great. Hidden in the back streets of Tintwhistle, it is an unassuming building, slightly shabby, but certainly worth a visit. When walking into this pub it is clear you are visiting an something very different; the ambience was nice & relaxed, the staff were lovely & friendly, but it is the layout and interior furniture that takes you back in time. It is gorgeous to see such eccentricity in a time of bland corporate chains. This is clearly an independent pub that has apparently stood for 500 years or more (so we were told). The food was good - several vegan options were available, which is great. Can't wait to visit again.

So glad we found this awesome pub. We stopped for lunch after checking Google Maps to see what was in the area, and the Bull's head was a great find. The staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and the building itself was fantastic. It was easy to imagine sitting there next to the fire 100 years ago with not much changed (in a good way). There are interesting things to look at everywhere. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Excellent pub with great character, got some of the ale the had on tap, which was off. Brought this to the attention of the landlord and it was no problem he was off to change the barrel and pull through two good pints, exactly what you want to happen in that situation. The chips we got were also excellent. An ideal pub to go to on the way from Manchester to the Peak District.
