Me and my family visited The New Lamp for the first time for Sunday dinner on Sunday 24th March, me and my partner have recently moved around here and itās our new local, and we were so impressed! We were all made to feel so welcome and well looked after by the lady on the bar and who was also waiting on tables. She was so friendly, attentive, helpful and welcoming, with the best customer service I have experienced in such a long time! Iām sorry I didnāt catch her name, but she made our experience so pleasant so I just want to say sheās a real credit to the pub and went above and beyond with looking after us. Her friendly personality made such a difference for us. Food - we all had the Sunday lunches, my family eat meat and Iām vegetarian. They cleaned their plates very quickly so I think the meat ones were delicious! I had the cheese and onion pie Sunday dinner and honestly it was the best cheese and onion pie Iāve ever had in my life! Most of the time Iām not too fussed about cheese and onion pies but it was incredible, so much flavour and crispy and tasted amazing, like home made and very fresh. The rest of the Sunday dinner was delicious too, really nice big homemade Yorkshire puddings. Very happy to have such a lovely new local pub where so much effort is put in, thank you for a 5* service and lunch on the 24th and Iām sure weāll be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat atmosphere and friendly staff. I would rate five but Unfortunately I heard they are getting rid of the small play area outside, which is ideal for families as during the nice weather kids love being outside. The play area needs a revamping anyway, but still, a much needed area in a local pub. They have a pool table and large TV screen for sports. There is a section of seating area which is set back slightly from the main area of the main floor which can be used for parties or dinner reservations. Food itself is highly recommended by anyone who has been before and it also has a takeaway delivery service. Prices are above normal for the menu but reflects the quality and taste. For 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 younger children, the cost of a meal with dessert and drinks on top came to about 60-70 pounds. Great for a change of scenery or occasion but money well spent. Depending on the reasons for the visit, call to check for spaces in the evening and if any sports are on as can reflect slightly on clientele...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame for an early dinner after our hike to the plane crash site and couldnāt have found a better spot. We were warmly welcomed by Jess (she was fantastic throughout our visit, really great hospitality skills) which got our drinks and explained the menu and daily specials. Luckily enough we were there on a Sunday which meant Sunday roast! Everything was so good. My gammon roast couldnāt have been better, especially for the price offered. My partner ordered a vegetarian curry with rice and chips, and some fried halloumi. There was nothing left on his plate, he really enjoyed it too. I would 100% recommend this pub. Amazing service...
