Our family of four dropped by after hiking Mam Tor along the Peak District. Parking was easy to the side of the pub (no payment required) but I can imagine it being busier in the evenings. Msot tables were already reserved but they managed to accommodate us indoors. Outside, plenty of patrons having a drink and chatting. We ordered a Sunday roast (beef), chicken and mushroom pie, and a sausage with potatoes (bangers and mash) The quantity of food for the Sunday roast was extremely worth it. 5 large servings of beef alongside a hefty helping of mash potatoes. I was very full after finishing the meal. There was some slow roasted carrots underneath it all too. Staff greeted us with a smile and were very friendly. Would recommend coming here for a meal.

Loved this place, was greeted by Katelyn & made very welcome on a quiet Wednesday afternoon in early May. Menu has something to satisfy everyone, with a one or two course option. I has sole to start & then the Beef & Ale pie. My partner Sarah didn't have a starter, had the pie too & then sticky toffee pudding with Custard. The portions were just the right size, the pie had short crust pastry & a Cock on the crust which was held in a pie dish. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. The bar is well stocked, with Craft Ales & all the favourites. A good selection of Hard Liquor & wines too. The locals were charming & the Staff so lovely. I will be visiting again & again

Visited this gem on a cloudy early spring day, and it was exactly what my partner and I needed. The cozy atmosphere, accentuated by a warm, real fireplace, made us feel right at home. The acoustic music playing in the background was the cherry on top - just loud enough to enjoy, yet soft enough to not interrupt our conversations. What really set this place apart, though, was the staff. Their friendliness and attentive service truly made our experience unforgettable. We're already looking forward to our next visit when we're back in town. A must-visit for anyone looking for a relaxing time with great company.

Had a nice pint of Veltin. Came back here because the last time we came it had an outside pizza oven, unfortunately this is no longer the case.

Update... In reply to the owner, I gave a 4 for service because it was good, and 3 for atmosphere because the outside part was fairly empty, I've not given score for food, or would you like me to review the £1.40 crisps that we had?? Maybe I should have ordered some frozen oven chips for £4.75, we wanted to eat, but didn't fancy anything on the Menu.

I'd say to you, if you don't like people leaving reviews, change your profession pal.

Why are cheap frozen chips £4.75?

2nd update. I love it, any potential customer wanting to visit can see what the landlord is like if they don't get a perfect review 😀. Don't cry to me because of how trust pilot averages the scores. I gave a 4 and a 3, why are you getting your pants in a twist with me? because I gave no score for food when I didnt eat? Not surprising the place was quiet when you have an attitude like you have shown. Maybe go down to the Goyt Inn and see how a landlord behaves.

Oh and it is fact, there was no atmosphere as it was quite and the service was good. I really am struggling to see why you have behaved like you have, speak with trust pilot about how they work the averages out if a service hasn't been...

Always dropped by here at intervals with my family, always been lovely and welcoming, but lately it seems what was already a good place to visit is even better still and felt compelled to say as much on Google.

It is clean both inside and out

Staff are always pleasant

It comfortably balances between Pub Eatery and restaurant atmosphere .

Welcoming to families.......and also dogs (even having doggy treats/meals available).

Very accommodating for Gluten Free.

The food is very very tasty.

Menu offers a good choice.

Kids menu has plenty of choice, including gluten free.

many compliments to the chef and those that are running and operating and employed at this very lovely establishment.

It's always a joy treating the wife and kids to a meal...
