I arrived at The Marina Brewers Fayre restaurant after checking in to the Premier Inn at Hinckley. I was stood waiting to be seated for 10 minutes then was approached by a male member of staff which I later found out was called Tom. I said to him I’ve come for my meal deal to which he replied we’re not doing walk-ins, it’s pre-book only. I explained I’d just spent 5 hours driving here and was told by the hotel reception to just pop over and I’d get my meal. Tom replied no we’re not serving people who just walk in and the restaurant is closing early tonight as they’re having a meeting. I turned around and returned to the hotel reception and explained what had just happened. The receptionist said let me have a look for you, I can book you in at 19:15 in ten minutes. I thanked the receptionist and returned to the restaurant at the allocated time. I was again waiting several minutes awaiting to be seated and it was obviously not busy. Tom approached me again and I said I have a reservation. He just walked off over his shoulder saying follow me. He then said someone will be over and started to walk away. I called after him I know what I want but he kept walking. I then waited 25 minutes at my table for a member of staff to take my order yet none were forthcoming. I saw another member of staff behind the bar so I approached him and asked to see a manager. This staff member was called Ben. He asked if there was a problem so I explained my treatment so far in this restaurant from Tom. Ben was very apologetic and said that it’s bar service only and I should have been told this when I arrived. I told him I wasn’t and went and got a menu. I told Ben my order and which drink and asked how long I was now going to wait. Ben said about 10 minutes so I returned to my table and waited. The meal arrived and except the onion rings being burnt was quite an enjoyable meal. My table was cleared quite quickly by Ben and he then brought me my dessert quite quickly as well. I had just finished this and my plate was again cleared quite quickly. Around three minutes after my dessert plate was cleared I was sat drinking the drink which was supplied with the meal, Tom walked passed my table and said can you drink up and go, this is a restaurant not a pub. At this point I was fuming so I called after him excuse me what is your name. He refused to give me his name and walked away from my table. I was finishing what was left of my drink when the manageress approached me and asked if I had any issues with my meal. I explained that the meal was fine but the attitude from her staff member Tom was not and explained all of the above. She was very apologetic and said she would be speaking with Tom about what had happened. It’s a shame as I have been a customer previously but will not return again. I have never been treated like this in any eating establishment in my...

We had my mother-in-law's dinner booked for 8 people at half 4. When We got there, we had to wait over 20 minutes for our reserved table, despite the place hardly being busy. Only at that point of being shown to our table did the same manager Ross tell us the carvery had finished an hour ago. Why couldn’t he have told us that before? So, there are the first two mistakes. When our table had decided what we were having from the menu, since the carvery had gone, we split the order in three. Since I had two children with me, a four-year-old and a two-year-old, the party allowed me to order ours first, followed by the other two orders for the same table, number 22. I asked the staff member, who I was told later was a manager, “What’s the waiting time on the food” he answered with “Whenever the kitchen staff have made it”. After the entire table had been waiting for over 40 minutes, I asked what was happening, and at that point, some food was finally coming to our table. Although we purposely ordered first, none of the food was ours or our kids. We waited another 5 minutes or so, and I went over to the manager asking where my family’s food was. They said the food comes out in “ticket order” I replied by telling him that we purposely ordered first so my children could be fed first. He went off and then returned, apologised for the wait, and said it would be ready in five minutes. Over 10 minutes later the rest of our table had eaten all their food, our 4-year-old had fallen asleep waiting, and our 2-year-old was getting very moody (found out later because he had soaked himself while staving for his food). At this point, we were ready to walk. The final straw that broke the camel's back was the same manager taking an entire table of food over to another table, who came in and ordered way after we had. At this point, I had enough. This wasn’t fair for my poor kids. I said to the manager that “now you are taking the piss”. We stood up, and I woke my eldest and prepared us all to leave without being fed. We got our money back on the way out for our 4 meals, but it was the worst experience my family has ever had eating out anywhere. My young children were starving with no food, and the restaurant's incompetence ruined my mother-in-law's birthday meal. The place and the people to work there should be ashamed...
Read moreWe have just had a lunchtime meal here and it was very sub standard. I ordered a ploughman’s my partner had the standard burger we waited forty minutes for our meals to arrive. I have never ever had a ploughman’s with a SWEET Brioche bun before a crusty bread roll is the usual. The salad was very mediocre it looked like it had been thrown on the plate the lettuce was mostly the hard stalk the cucumber was warm and sad looking and I only tasted one piece and it tasted as sad as it looked, I had to ask where the caramelised onion was and the crisps as stated on the menu to be eaten with the Ploughman’s. The caramelised onion came later and the crisps were put in front of me in a bag!! Nil presentation. I asked for pickle to go with the Ploughman’s again usually a standard. I was told that pickle was not served with the Ploughman’s as they do not keep it, never heard of that one before!! the cheese in its small quantity was ok, the ham was processed and NOT of the bone again a usual standard. I feel that the money I paid was extortionate and I was going to complain to the duty Manager but he could not be found. That was my meal my partners Burger was also sub standard as was the “” Frozen”” chips which had no taste and were limp. I waited twenty minutes for the plates to be cleared and for a waitress to come and order our dessert after I had gone looking for one. We asked if we could move table as we saw one empty inside where nobody sat during our time there and there was one outside but we were told they were booked we were there for one and a half hours and nobody came to sit these tables. It was our first visit with high expectations and it was the most disappointing experience which we will not be repeating. I know it was busy and the sun was out but surely if you are a professional establishment you should be able to cope with any situation. I gave 2 stars and that was ONLY for our Waitress Stacy who was very...
