This was a recommendation from Google maps of places in the area. We had the Sunday lunch menu. It was a good selection of veggies, with carrots, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, two types of potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding also. I took the beef and chicken mixed, the beef was rather dry even after a good soaking of gravy. The beef was well seasoned, and the chicken could have been a little more roasted tbh. Sadly the selection of veg was pretty bland for my taste, I like well seasoned food and veggies need to be cooked on salt to give them depth of flavour, a topical sprinkling after been served does them no justice. I get the English cuisine may tend to be better if it's more bland. A lot of local folks enjoying themselves, not very busy at 15.00 on a Sunday, we might have missed the lunch rush possibly. Service was ok, they left us a little dry after serving, would have been nice to have an additional drink with our meal but we didn't get another check-in to facilitate that. Good value for money, a big portion of beef and veggies. Very much a family oriententated venue, geared to local market which Sean to adore the food. We wish them great success and hope the get the local support which the cater for. Thanks Tin...
Read moreThe tin hat was recommended on Facebook by the locals as being amazing fresh from scratch cooking so I was really keen to go after a bad experience of frozen food at another local pub. I went with a friend and we ordered the same chicken burger with hand cut chips, onion rings and salad. It was ok but nothing special, the chips were frozen skin on fries like you get in the supermarket which was really disappointing, onion rings were a lot of batter with hardly any onion. My chicken burger was a whole breast of meat with cheese but I found £1 extra for one strip of cheese very expensive. The salad was one piece of lettuce and one slice of tomato. I was expecting a full salad. They also charge £1.35 for a can of pop which is diabolical. I rang and booked and was told it's definitely best to on a Saturday night as they get very busy. At 6pm we were the only ones in there. At 7pm one other couple came in and by the time we left at 8pm only one more couple..... They were slow to remove our plates considering there was no one else to look after and didn't bring the bill until we asked for it. My friend said her chicken was a bit dry but mine was good. I wouldn't return here and I'm still on the look out for a place with...
Read moreThe Tin Hat is an excellent venue as it has a pub area at the front with dart board, pool table and great selection of drinks and seating, then it has a garden area with ample outdoor seating, and then a beautiful lounge / restaurant area at the back.
We were looking for a pub venue to go to after our registry office wedding that had private space, good food, and good drink in a relaxed atmosphere. The lounge area we hired at the Tin Hat delivered exactly that and more! It was a fantastic time we enjoyed with a brilliant selection of drinks that catered for everyone. And the food is absolute quality pub food with all our guests complimenting how nice their meals were.
What really makes it is the people, and the amazing team that were working the day we visited couldn’t have been better. Huge thanks to Jo, Shea, Holly, Charlie, Bobbi, and Izzy who were all excellent.
Would highly recommend the Tin Hat to anyone, and certainly the food and lounge area for events / functions it’s...
