PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Ipswich

They are racist! We are Asian who living in UK for more than 20 years. We walked in this pizza express yesterday around 3pm, it's Sunday, very quiet, not many customers at all, only 2/3 tables with customers. We waited at the entrance for a while waiting to be seated, but at the same time a man looks like a floor manager stayed beside the kitchen ignored us and pretending he was doing something. Later he came to us, we told him we had 4 people and we would like to seat somewhere with better view because he showed us to a table just next to the entrance, but they had scaffolding just outside of window and the window was very dirty.I'm sure they have lots tables inside the hall were available , all their customers were eating inside of the hall, this person didn't want to lead us inside but only wants us to stay at the entrance with scaffolding and dirty window view. He said coldly, "it's all fully booked"! At that moment There were a young white couple walked in, the guy straight away showed them to inside . Imagine 3pm, late for lunch, early for dinner, full of empty tales, and he said fully booked! Nonsense! He was such a racist! We felt very uncomfortable and decided to leave and we are not going to eat in Pizza express anymore...

Food was good, however after turning up with a booking of 5 today was very disappointed with the lack of attention at the host stand. We waited for quite a while (roughly 20mins) and once serviced we no longer received our reserved table and instead were offered a make shift compromise. Then when asking for a different and more comfortable table that was available we received a very rude response and were forced to wait for 10-20 minutes while the waitresses cleared all tables accept ours! When finally sat were completely ignored and treated like a problem, when ordering the member of staff was poor at listening and seemed more concerned with the staffs interest then her customers especially when we mentioned politely that the air conditioning was quite cold so our experience was being made uncomfortable. Whilst sat we also experienced many customers turned away rudely after waiting for long durations so no respect for time was being paid, this was particularly shocking as there seemed to be plenty of staff ignoring jobs and not a very busy restaurant. Despite having been to this restaurant a few times with okay service today it was unacceptable and just rude so I felt it necessary to...

I visited this pizza express a couple of weeks ago whilst visiting the area. From the moment I arrived I was greeted with a nice friendly welcome and shown to a table that was spotlessly clean. It wasn’t overly busy but still had a nice buzz in the air. Drinks arrived super fast and when the food arrived it was exactly as I was hoping. Hot, fresh and delivered with a smile by a super friendly blonde lady (sorry I didn’t get her name). I went for the bbq burnt ends pizza and I have to say it was delicious :) im not normally a fan of chain restaurants but in this pizza express, we received a real friendly welcome and that energy continued throughout the whole visit. You could tell that the staff were engaged and all knew their jobs pretty well. They were attentive, knowledgable about the menu and I’m glad I went with the burnt ends pizza that was recommended. I eat out a lot due to travelling for work and the experience was by far one of the best I’ve had over the years. We were not constantly checked in on which always puts me off. They had the right balance of attentiveness whilst also allowing us to enjoy our meal in peace. Thank you pizza express Ipswich. I look forward to the...
